1. Gas exchange with a reflecting system for inhalational anaesthesia
Abstract : In order to reduce comsumption of inhalational anaesthetsics during high flow anaesthesia a system open in regard to oxygen, nitogen and nitrous oxide, but closed to inhalational anaesthetics, was developed. This was achieved by a reflecting filter for inhalational anaesthetics made of active carbon. READ MORE

2. On mechanisms controlling air-sea gas exchange
Abstract : Carbon is essential to the Earth’s system functioning, playing a major role in physical and biogeochemical processes in the atmosphere, the terrestrial biosphere, and the oceans. The concentration of carbon-based greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), has been increasing since the industrial era. READ MORE

3. Real-time breath gas analysis of carbon monoxide : laser-based detection and pulmonary gas exchange modeling
Abstract : Breath gas analysis is a promising approach for non-invasive medical diagnostics and physiological monitoring. Real-time, breath-cycle resolved biomarker detection facilitates data interpretation and has the potential to improve the diagnostic value of breath tests as exhalation profiles carry spatiotemporal information about biomarker origin and gas exchange in the respiratory tract. 4. Gas Exchange over Aquatic Interfaces and its Importance for Greenhouse Gas Emission
Abstract : Aquatic ecosystems play a substantial role in global cycling of carbon (C), despite covering only about 4% of the earth surface. They emit large amounts of greenhouse gases (GHG) to the atmosphere, comparable to the amount of C stored annually in terrestrial ecosystems. In addition, C can be buried in lake sediments. READ MORE

5. Gas Exchange in the Normal Lung : Experimental studies on the effects of positive end-expiratory pressure and body position
Abstract : BACKGROUND: The principal function of the lung is gas exchange requiring adequate ventilation and perfusion at the level of the alveoli. The efficiency of gas exchange is depending on the distributions of regional ventilation (V) and pulmonary blood flow (Q) and their correlation. READ MORE
