1. Noise sensitivity and FK-type representations for Gaussian and stable processes
Abstract : This thesis contains four papers on probability theory. Paper A concerns the question of whether the exclusion sensitivity and exclusion stability of a sequence of Boolean functions are monotone with respect to adding edges to the underlying sequence of graphs. READ MORE

2. Applications of Gaussian Noise Stability in Inapproximability and Social Choice Theory
Abstract : Gaussian isoperimetric results have recently played an important role in proving fundamental results in hardness of approximation in computer science and in the study of voting schemes in social choice theory. In this thesis we prove a generalization of a Gaussian isoperimetric result by Borell and show that it implies that the majority function is optimal in Condorcet voting in the sense that it maximizes the probability that there is a single candidate which the society prefers over all other candidates. 3. On Medical Image Segmentation With Noisy Labels
Abstract : It is well known that data sets used for training and testing automatic medical image segmentation methods often contain a lot of label noise. Such noise affects the performance of the methods and has been subject to a lot of research. READ MORE

4. Numerical Approximation of Solutions to Stochastic Partial Differential Equations and Their Moments
Abstract : The first part of this thesis focusses on the numerical approximation of the first two moments of solutions to parabolic stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) with additive or multiplicative noise. More precisely, in Paper I an earlier result (A. Lang, S. Larsson, and Ch. READ MORE

5. Search for Dark Matter and Extra Dimensions in Monojet Final States with the ATLAS Experiment
Abstract : The CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the most powerful particle ac- celerator ever built, in terms of luminosity and center-of-mass energy of the collisions. This thesis presents a search for Dark Matter and Extra Dimen- sions in the proton-proton collisions as recorded by the ATLAS detector. READ MORE
