  1. 1. Turbulent impurity transport in tokamak fusion plasmas

    Author : Andreas Skyman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tokamaks; fluid theory; ion temperature gradient mode; impurity transport; trapped electron mode; fusion plasma physics; turbulence; e-science; Joint European Torus; gyrokinetic theory;

    Abstract : With the enormous growth of high performance computing (HPC) over the last few decades, plasma physicists have gained access to a valuable instrument for investigating turbulent plasma behaviour. In this thesis, these tools are utilised for the study of particle transport in fusion devices of the tokamak variety, focusing in particular on the transport of impurities. READ MORE

    Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was to characterize hematologic malignancies using gene expression profiling in order to obtain an improved classification and to study deregulated transcriptional networks in leukemia. In the first study (Article I), the gene expression profiles of hematologic cell lines were analyzed to investigate whether such cell lines maintain expression profiles that are characteristic of their primary genetic changes. 5. 5. Simulation and assessment of particle transport in fusion plasmas

    Author : Emil Fransson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fusion -- Plasma physics -- Turbulent transport --Gyrofluid --Gyrokinetic;

    Abstract : A civilized society need energy to function. An attractive new energy source is nuclear fusion with its abundance of fuel, intrinsic safety and limited environmental impact. Although the concept of fusion for energy has been well understood for over a century, to create it here on earth has been more irksome. READ MORE
