1. Learning time-varying interaction networks
Abstract : Most biological systems consist of several subcomponents whichinteract with each other. These interactions govern the overall behaviourof the system; and in turn vary over time and in response to internaland external stress during the course of an experiment. READ MORE

2. Significance of N2 fixing planktonic symbioses for open ocean ecosystems
Abstract : Di-nitrogen (N2) fixers, also called diazotrophs, are able to reduce atmospheric N2 into bioavailable nitrogen, giving them an advantage in open ocean regions with low dissolved inorganic nitrogen concentrations. The focus of this thesis are three lineages of symbiotic heterocystous filamentous types (het-1, het-2 and het-3), that associate with several genera of microalgae called diatoms (collectively referred to as Diatom Diazotroph Associations, DDAs). 3. Congenital Recessive Ichthyosis : Studies of Gene Expressions Related to Keratinocyte Differentiation and Skin Barrier Repair
Abstract : Autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis (ARCI) is a rare monogenetic disorder characterized by a defective skin barrier, hyperkeratosis, and dry, scaly skin. It affects keratinocyte differentiation and is caused by mutations in any of at least 12 genes believed to control the formation of ω-O-acylceramide and the corneocyte lipid envelope (CLE): ABCA12, ALOXE3, ALOX12B, CERS3, CYP4F22, ELOVL4, LIPN, NIPAL4, PNPLA1, SDR9C7, SLC27A4, and TGM1. 4. Outcomes of Myosin 1C Gene Expression Depletion on Cancer-related Pathways, in Vitro and in Clinical Samples
Abstract : The unconventional myosin IC has previously been suggested to be a haploinsufficient tumour suppressor. The mechanism for this action has hitherto been unknown, however, and hence we decided to attempt to elucidate the genes involved. READ MORE

5. Prognostic and treatment predictive factors for radio- and chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer patients- a step towards personlized medicine
Abstract : Breast cancer is the most common cancer form among women in the Western world. Although treatment has improved during the last decades, there is still a significant proportion of the patients who are not cured. READ MORE
