  1. 16. The Carboxyl Ester Lipase Gene. Organization, Evolution and Transcriptional Regulation in Exocrine Pancreas and Mammary Gland

    Author : Ulf Lidberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NF-1; pseudogene; evolution; pancreas; carboxyl ester lipase; regulation; duplication; promoter; enhancer; locus; gene structure; mammary gland;

    Abstract : The carboxyl ester lipase (CEL) is an important enzyme for the intestinal absorption of dietary lipids. In humans the gene is highly expressed in exocrine pancreas and in the lactating mammary gland. It is secreted in an inactive form and becomes activated by bile salts in the intestine. READ MORE

  2. 17. The mitoribosome as a hub for integrating mitochondrial gene expression : Regulation of translation and early assembly of cytochrome b

    Author : Andreas Carlström; Martin Ott; Chris Meisinger; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mitochondria; gene expression; mitochondrial ribosome; translation regulation; feedback loop; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : The mitochondrial proteome is a mosaic of proteins from two different genetic systems. The majority of mitochondrial proteins are encoded in the nuclear genome and are synthesized in the cytosol before imported to mitochondria. READ MORE

  3. 18. Organization and regulation of mitochondrial gene expression

    Author : Roger Salvatori; Martin Ott; Benoit Kornmann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mitochondria; mitochondrial gene expression; post-transcriptional regulation; mitochondrial ribosome; protein-protein proximity; BioID; feedback loop; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Abstract : Mitochondria possess their own genome, remnant of the ancestral eubacterial endosymbiont DNA. This mitochondrial genome encodes mostly few key subunits of the respiratory chain. In order to synthesize these few proteins, mitochondria contain a complete gene expression machinery. READ MORE

  4. 19. Gene regulation by chromatin remodelling complexes : SWI/SNF complex in mRNA processing and B-WICH complex in ribosomal gene expression

    Author : Antoni Gañez Zapater; Ann-Kristin Östlund-Farrants; Christopher W.J. Smith; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chromatin remodelling; SWI SNF; Brg1; Brm; alternative splicing; cleavage and polyadenylation; B-WICH; WSTF; ribosomal genes; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this project is to investigate the roles of chromatin remodelling complexes in gene regulation. It is focused on two groups of chromatin complexes: the mammalian BRG1 and BRM SWI/SNF complexes and the ISWI-containing B-WICH complex.Study 1 investigates the role of SWI/SNF complexes in alternative splicing. 5. 20. RNA-mediated gene expression regulation

    Author : Paula Petronela Groza; Francesca Aguilo; Yuri B. Schwartz; Silvia Remeseiro; Henrik Nielsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; RNA modifications; fibrillarin; 2 -O-methylation; translation; alternative splicing; METTL3; m6A; ZFP207; breast cancer; mouse ESCs; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : The regulation of gene expression is a key mechanism that underlies all biological processes, from embryonic development to the onset and progression of various diseases, including cancer. A growing body of evidence places RNA molecules at the center of critical regulatory steps in gene expression. READ MORE
