  1. 1. Realizing Next-Generation Data Centers via Software-Defined “Hardware” Infrastructures and Resource Disaggregation : Exploiting your cache

    Author : Amir Roozbeh; Dejan Kostic; Gerald Q. Maguire Jr.; Fetahi Z. Wuhib; Jonathan M. Smith; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cloud computing; Next-generation data centers; Resource disaggregation; Total cost of ownership; Last level cache; Direct cache access; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Abstract : The cloud is evolving due to additional demands introduced by new technological advancements and the wide movement toward digitalization. Moreover, next-generation Data Centers (DCs) and clouds are expected (and need) to become cheaper, more efficient, and capable of offering more predictable services. READ MORE

  2. 2. Fuel Reforming for Hydrogen Production in Heavy-Duty Vehicle Applications

    Author : Moa. Z. Granlund; Lars. J. Pettersson; Robert J. Farrauto; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aging · autothermal fuel reforming · CeO2-ZrO2 · characterization · diesel · H2-assisted HC-SCR · micro reactor · monolith; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The depletion of fossil fuels together with growing environmental concerns have created incitement for developing a more energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly vehicle fleet. The development towards cleaner heavy-duty vehicles started already in the 80’s with the introduction of emission legislations. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development of a new generation of 12% Cr steels: Z-phase strengthened steels

    Author : Masoud Rashidi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; atom probe tomography; Z-phase; 9-12% Cr steels; martensitic steels; transmission electron microscopy; precipitation hardening; creep;

    Abstract : Fossil-fuel fired steam power plants provide more than 60% of the electricity generated worldwide, and account for about one third of the global CO2 emissions. The thermal efficiency of the steam power plants is limited by the maximum allowed steam temperature and pressure, which in turn are determined by the long-term corrosion and creep resistance of economically viable materials. 4. 4. Atomistic Modelling of Materials for Clean Energy Applications : hydrogen generation, hydrogen storage, and Li-ion battery

    Author : Zhao Qian; Rajeev Ahuja; Börje Johansson; Antonio Ferreira da Silva; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Renewable energy; Materials science; Hydrogen production; Hydrogen storage; Li-ion battery; Density functional theory; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi; SRA - E-Science SeRC ; SRA - E-vetenskap SeRC ;

    Abstract : In this thesis, a number of clean-energy materials for hydrogen generation, hydrogen storage, and Li-ion battery energy storage applications have been investigated through state-of-the-art density functional theory.As an alternative fuel, hydrogen has been regarded as one of the promising clean energies with the advantage of abundance (generated through water splitting) and pollution-free emission if used in fuel cell systems. 5. 5. Development of a new generation of creep resistant 12% chromium steels: Microstructure of Z-phase strengthened steels

    Author : Masoud Rashidi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; phase transformation; CrNbN; impact toughness; Creep; CrTaN; Laves-phase; atom probe tomography; precipitation hardening; M2N; MX; transmission electron microscopy; coarsening;

    Abstract : Fossil-fuel fired steam power plants provide more than 60% of the electricity generated worldwide, and account for about one third of the global CO2 emissions. Increasing the steam temperature and pressure leads to a higher thermal efficiency of the power plants and thus lower emissions. READ MORE
