21. Genomic dynamics over contemporary time frames in wild salmonid populations
Abstract : Genetic diversity is the foundation of all biological variation. An approach for sustainable use and protection of genetic diversity is continuous sampling over space and time, i.e. monitoring. READ MORE

22. The evolution of sex chromosomes and sex-linked sequences in birds
Abstract : Identifying the processes involved in the evolution of suppressed recombination between sex chromosomes and understanding their consequences for the evolutionary dynamics of sex-linked loci have been major topics of research during the last century. In this thesis, I used the avian ZW system, where females are the heterogametic sex, to investigate the underlying processes in sex chromosome evolution in birds. READ MORE

23. Genomics of population decline
Abstract : With human populations forecasted to grow in the next decades, many mammals face increasing anthropogenic threats. The consequential population declines are a precursor to extinctions, as small populations are not only more sensitive to stochastic events, but reduction in population size is generally also followed by a decrease in genetic diversity, which in turn reduces adaptive potential and fitness of the population. 24. Genetics and ecology of natural populations
Abstract : I have studied the genetic variation of single species using morphological variation and enzyme electrophoresis. I have striven to understand the interaction between the breeding structure and the ecology of the species in relation to the community, in which it lives. The work was done in the county of Västerbotten, northern Sweden. READ MORE

25. Genetic analysis of murine malaria
Abstract : Malaria, an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium parasites, is one of the major world-scale health problems. Despite the efforts aimed at finding an effective way to control the disease, the success has been thwarted by the emergence of parasite drug resistance and mosquito resistance to insecticides.
