11. Genetic variants for liver fat accumulation and circulating triglyceride levels
Abstract : Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), obesity and type 2 diabetes(T2D) are strongly associated and today their prevalence reaches epidemic proportions. NAFLD has a multi-factorial aetiology, both genetic and environmental factors are equally important. READ MORE

12. Genetic characterization of adrenocortical tumors
Abstract : Adrenocortical cancer is a rare tumor form. However, adrenal tumors are today often found incidentally when using imaging techniques on the upper abdomen and should then be investigated. With the advance in molecular understanding of cancer new approaches to manage the disease may become available. READ MORE

13. Ecology and conservation of the moth Dysauxes ancilla
Abstract : The ecology of the moth Dysauxes ancilla was studied in the only Swedish breeding area at Beijershamn, situated on the Baltic island of Öland. The population is a northern outpost, separated from the species´ continous distribution area in middle- and southeast Europe. READ MORE

14. Osteoarthritis. Epidemiologic and genetic aspects
Abstract : The purpose of this study was to (I) assess the association between body mass index (BMI) and total hip replacement (THR) and total knee replacement (TKR) due to osteoarthritis (OA), (II) assess the association between the mechanical load of work and THR and TKR due to OA, (III) evaluate the natural history of radiographic hip OA with regards to THR and hip fracture, (IV) to determine the prevalence of radiographic OA in patients with hip fracture, and (V) to examine and compare the inheritance patterns of THR for OA and hip fracture. OA was previously regarded as a consequence of the wear and tear the joint is subjected to during one’s lifetime. READ MORE

15. Ecology and genetic population structure of Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins in East Africa
Abstract : Many marine mammal populations are threatened by anthropogenic activities. The Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops aduncus) off Zanzibar are subject to high levels of bycatch, negative impact from tourism and were previously hunted. READ MORE
