  1. 1. Sensory quality of pork : Influences of rearing system, feed, genotype, and sex

    Author : Anette Jonsäll; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Domestic sciences; Sensory analysis; rearing system; genotype; sex; feed; pig; food quality; taste; muscle; Hushållsvetenskap; Domestic science and nutrition; Hushålls- och kostvetenskap;

    Abstract : Hampshire crosses of different genotype and sex were used to investigate the effects of rearing system, feed and handling on sensory quality, consumer preference and cooking loss. A selected and trained panel carried out descriptive tests. Two preference tests were carrieout by, in each case, 200 consumers. READ MORE

  2. 2. Genetic variability of hepatitis B virus in chronic infection

    Author : Charles Hannoun; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hepatitis B virus; mutation; genotype; phylogeny; ; Recombination; coinfection; interferon; response;

    Abstract : Chronic hepatitis B is a major health problem, and may lead to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. The liver damage in hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is considered to be a result of the immune response, and not a cytopathic effect of the virus itself. READ MORE

  3. 3. Gene Polymorphisms and Related Cell Markers in Periodontitis Lesions

    Author : Mauro Donati; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Allele; B-lymphocyte; cell-surface molecule; cytokine; gene expression; genotype; gingivitis; host response; inflammation; periodontal disease;

    Abstract : Inflammatory and immune reactions to microbial plaque are the predominant features of periodontitis. Epidemiological studies revealed that differences in periodontitis among individuals could not be explained by differences in oral hygiene alone and that not everybody is equally susceptible. 4. 4. Geographic and genetic diversity of hepatitis B

    Author : Erik Alestig; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hepatitis B virus; genotype; phylogeny; molecular epidemiology; sequence analysis; mutation;

    Abstract : Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection is a global health problem and may lead to chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular cancer. The ability of HBV to adapt to the host environment by genetic variation has lead to the evolution of 8 established (A-H) and 2 putative genotypes (I-J), each corresponding to a rather well-defined geographical distribution. 5. 5. Genotypic and phenotypic characterization of Porphyromonas gingivalis in relation to virulence

    Author : Takashi Yoshino; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Porphyromonas gingivalis; Phenotype; Genotype; Virulence; Periodontitis;

    Abstract : The present thesis was designed to increase the knowledge on the role of pathogenic potential of Porphyromonas gingivalis as a putative periodontal pathogen. P. READ MORE
