  1. 21. An Analysis of Consequences of Land Evaluation and Path Optimization

    Author : Rachel Mundeli Murekatete; Takeshi Shirabe; Gerhard Navratil; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Least-cost paths; Most-suitable paths; Raster cost surfaces; Raster suitability surfaces; Shortest path problem; Minimax path problem; Scales of measurement; Minsta-kostnad rutter; Mest-lämpliga rutter; Raster kostnadsytor; Raster lämplighets ytor; kortaste vägen problem; Minimax väg problem; Mätskalor; Geodesy and Geoinformatics; Geodesi och geoinformatik;

    Abstract : Planners who are involved in locational decision making often use raster-based geographic information systems (GIS) to quantify the value of land in terms of suitability or cost for a certain use. From a computational point of view, this process can be seen as a transformation of one or more sets of values associated with a grid of cells into another set of such values through a function reflecting one or more criteria. 2. 22. Advancing the state of geospatial electrification modelling: New data, methods, applications, insight and electrification investment outlooks

    Author : Alexandros Korkovelos; Viktoria Martin; Mark I. Howells; Francesco Fuso Nerini; Hans-Holger Rogner; Ed Brown; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract :  I skrivande stund uppskattas 860 miljoner människor globalt sakna tillgång till el. Målet att uppnå universal tillgång till el under det kommande decenniet – i enlighet med mål 7 av de globala målen för hållbar utveckling (SDG 7) – indikerar att många länder snart kommer att behöva införa riktlinjer, handlingsplaner och policys för att påskynda elektrifieringstakten. 3. 23. Glacial geology and palaeo-ice dynamics of two ice-sheet margins, Taymyr Peninsula, Siberia and Jameson Land, East Greenland

    Author : Helena Alexanderson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ice dynamics; Pleistocene; Arctic Siberia; East Greenland; Sedimentology; Physical geography; Sedimentologi; pedology; geomorphology; klimatologi; kartografi; marklära; geomorfologi; cartography; Fysisk geografi; ice-marginal processes; glacial history; climatology;

    Abstract : The North Taymyr ice-marginal zone (NTZ) on the Taymyr Peninsula, Arctic Siberia and the Ugleelv Valley on Jameson Land, East Greenland, have been investigated with the aim of reconstructing the glacial history, including depositional processes and environments. Geomorphological, sedimentological, stratigraphical and remote sensing methods have been combined to give a comprehensive view of developments in the two areas. READ MORE

  4. 24. Monitoring biodiversity in cultural landscapes: development of remote sensing- and GIS-based methods

    Author : Jonas Dalmayne; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Keywords : Remote sensing; statistical modeling; spatial scales; partial least squares; support vector machines; grazed grasslands; LULC; HySpex; Worldview-2; Landsat; heterogeneity; landscape complexity; plant species diversity;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I explore the relationships between structural and compositional landscape properties, and species diversity, using remotely sensed data on a variety of spatial scales. The thesis shows that increased landscape heterogeneity, measured using environmental and spectral variables that were used both separately and combined, is generally positively related to plant species richness. 5. 25. Geospatial Open-Source Modelling for Integrated Energy Access Planning : New Tools and Methods to Bridge the Energy Access Gap

    Author : Babak Khavari; Francesco Fuso Nerini; William Usher; Mark Howells; Erik Ahlgren; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract : In 2015 the United Nations (UN) General Assembly agreed on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of 17 goals defined by 169 targets to be reached by 2030. Amongst them is SDG 7. SDG 7 states “Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all”. READ MORE
