  2. 2. Deglaciation pattern and dynamics in the Bolmen area, southwestern Sweden

    Author : Gunnar Andersson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geology; backwasting; Debris flow; Oscillation; Gothenburg moraine; cover moraine; Late Weichselian; hummocky moraine; physical geography; Geologi; fysisk geografi;

    Abstract : The Late Weichselian deglaciation of an area in southwestern Sweden was reconstructed by geomorphological, sedimentological and lithostratigraphical methods. The morainic deposits were mapped and classified into three landsystems: Streamlined terrain, hummocky moraine and cover moraine. READ MORE

  3. 3. Sveconorwegian orogenesis in the southwestern Baltic Shield - Zircon geochronology and tectonothermal setting of orthogneisses in SW Sweden

    Author : Jenny Andersson; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Petrology; Geologi; fysisk geografi; physical geography; Geology; structural markers; augen gneiss; orthogneiss; migmatite; ion microprobe; Pb-Pb evaporation; U-Pb; geochronology; zircon; Sweden; Mylonite Zone; Western Segment; Sveconorwegian orogen; Eastern Segment; mineralogy; geochemistry; Petrologi; mineralogi; geokemi;

    Abstract : The Mylonite zone (MZ) is a prominent late-Sveconorwegian lithological terrane boundary in the SW Baltic Shield along which large-scale crustal block movements took place during the Sveconorwegian orogeny. The southern section of the MZ also defines a conspicuous metamorphic break separating upper amphibolite and high-pressure granulite facies rocks in the parautochthonous Eastern Segment (ES), from middle amphibolite facies rocks in the overlying Western Segment (WS). 4. 4. The lower and middle Cambrian of Sweden: trilobites, biostratigraphy and intercontinental correlation

    Author : Niklas Axheimer; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sedimentologi; Paleontologi; Palaeontology; fysisk geografi; Geologi; physical geography; Geology; Sweden; correlation; trilobites; biostratigraphy; Cambrian; Sedimentology;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on studies of Cambrian successions in Sweden, with particular focus on the middle Cambrian biostratigraphy and its correlative relationship to the proposed global agnostoid zonation. The investigated material, mainly trilobites, was collected from both outcrops and drill cores from five provinces in Sweden: Skåne (Scania), Öland, Västergötland, Jämtland and Lapland. READ MORE

  5. 5. Assembly of the Caledonian Orogenic Wedge, Jämtland, Sweden

    Author : Hagen Bender; Uwe Ring; Bjarne SG Almqvist; Rob Strachan; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : Collisional orogeny creates the largest mountain belts on Earth. The Caledonides of Scandinavia are a deeply eroded, ancient mountain belt, which today exposes a deep section through the former orogenic interior. READ MORE
