  1. 1. Constraining the Uplift History of the Al Hajar Mountains, Oman

    Author : Reuben Hansman; Uwe Ring; Victoria Pease; Hemin Koyi; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; oman; Al Hajar; mountain; uplift; orogeny; tectonics; structural; geology; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : Mountain building is the result of large compressional forces in the Earth’s crust where two tectonic plates collide. This is why mountains only form at plate boundaries, of which the Al Hajar Mountains in Oman and the United Arab Emirates is thought to be an example of. READ MORE

  2. 2. Tectonic implications of ca. 1.45 Ga granitoid magmatism at the southwestern margin of the East European Craton

    Author : Audrius Cecys; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geologi; southern Sweden; fysisk geografi; physical geography; Mesoproterozoic; geochemistry; syntectonic; petrology; structural geology; anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility; Danopolonian orogeny; Geology; granite;

    Abstract : Between ca 1.53 and 1.40 Ga, the southwestern margin of the East European Craton was subjected to extensive magmatism and deformation. While various suites of anorthositic, mangeritic and charnockitic-granitic rocks were emplaced between ca. READ MORE

  3. 3. Weichselian glaciations in the middle Notec River region, northwest Poland

    Author : Gert Pettersson; Kvartärgeologi; []

    Abstract : This thesis presents results of studies on the ice flow pattern and ice movement mechanism during the Weichselian glaciations in the middle Notec River area, NW Poland. A new lithostratigraphy of the study area has been established, based on correlation of stratigraphical position, clast lithology, fabrics and grain size composition of till units. READ MORE

  4. 4. Stratigraphy and facies of Middle Silurian epicontinental carbonate platform deposits of Gotland, Sweden

    Author : Mikael Calner; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fysisk geografi; Geologi; Geology; physical geography;

    Abstract : The Silurian foreland of Scandinavia included a vast epicontinental carbonate platform system of which the island of Gotland (Sweden) is an erosional remnant. This thesis treats the Late Wenlock succession (Cyrtograptus lundgreni, Pristiograptus dubius parvus, Gothograptus nassa, Colonograptus(?) praedeubeli, and the Co(?) deubeli zones), and emphasises the sedimentology and biostratigraphy of these deposits. Abstract : Jawed polychaete annelid worms were abundant and diverse in the early Palaeozoic seas and their jaws (scolecodonts) are common microfossils in sedimentary rocks of that age. Despite their abundance, relatively little work has been focused on these fossils. READ MORE
