  1. 11. Mind in Motion: The utilization of noise in the cognitive process

    Author : Robert Pallbo; Data Vetenskap; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; AI; image processing; spontaneous activity; motion detection; knowledge acquisition; homunculus; evolutionary epistemology; evolution; cognition; noise; neural networks; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : The brain is not silent. Even in the absence of stimuli are the neurons activated every now and then in what is called "spontaneous" or "background activity" which provides a noisy background to the operation of the brain. This work shows how this noise can be utilized in the cognitive process. READ MORE

  2. 12. On state space structure and average case complexity in random K-SAT problems

    Author : John Ardelius; Erik Aurell; Bart Selman; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis gives an introduction to a currently active area in the cross-section between theoretical computer science and theoretical physics. In the last ten years it has been suggested that critical behaviour, usually seen in models from condensed matter physics, may be responsible for the intractability of NP complete computation problems. 3. 13. Women Entrepreneurship : Masculinity, Legitimacy and Well-being

    Author : Sumaya Hashim; Lucia Naldi; Magdalena Markowska; Miruna Radu Lefebvre; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The overarching research purpose of this dissertation is to understand how women entrepreneurs establish and grow their businesses in a patriarchal society. This research question is addressed through the compilation of four research papers. READ MORE

  4. 14. Floating-Point Analog-to-Digital Converter

    Author : Johan Piper; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics and Electrical technology; matching; binary weighting; dynamic range; resolution; distortion; pipeline; A D-converter; floating-point; Elektronik och elektroteknik;

    Abstract : To deal with the wide dynamic rage necessary for a radio receiver or corresponding applications, but to avoid impractically high resolution at high data rates, the approach of using a floating-point analog-to-digital converter (FP-ADC) has been investigated. This approach de-links the dynamic range with the resolution, and a very wide dynamic range can be achieved by an ADC with a moderate resolution. READ MORE

  5. 15. Specifying Safety-Critical Heterogeneous Systems Using Contracts Theory

    Author : Jonas Westman; Mattias Nyberg; Mats Heimdahl; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Contracts; Heterogeneous Systems; Safety; Architecture; Requirements; Specification; Elements; Compositional; IEC 61508; ISO 26262; Kontrakt; Heterogena System; Säkerhet; Arkitektur; Kravhantering; Specifiering; Element; Kompositionell; IEC 61508; ISO 26262; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : Requirements engineering (RE) is a well-established practice that is also emphasized in safety standards such as IEC 61508 and ISO 26262. Safety standards advocate a particularly stringent RE where requirements must be structured in an hierarchical manner in accordance with the system architecture; at each level, requirements must be allocated to heterogeneous (SW, HW, mechanical, electrical, etc. READ MORE
