  1. 1. Groundwater impact assessment and protection

    Author : Åse Eliasson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Physically-based groundwater modelling; contamination; flow and solute transport; glaciofluvial deposits; Nybroåsen; Sweden; and multi-criteria decision-aid;

    Abstract : In the recent decades, therehave been frequent conflicts between groundwater waterresources and environmentally hazardous activities. Newmethodologies for aiding decision-making in groundwater impactassessment and protection areneeded and in which issues ofincreased awareness, better understanding of the groundwaterresources processes, and validation of predictive mathematicalmodels are addressed. 2. 2. Glacial geology of Bayan Har Shan, northeastern Tibetan Plateau

    Author : Jakob Heyman; Arjen P Stroeven; Clas Hättestrand; Helena Alexanderson; Mark D Johnson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : The paleoglaciology of the Tibetan Plateau is still largely unexplored, despite its importance for regional and global climate reconstructions. In this thesis a comprehensive glacial geological record is presented from an extensive part of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau centred on the Bayan Har Shan. READ MORE

  3. 3. Glaciodynamics, Deglacial Landforms and Isostatic Uplift during the last Deglaciation of Norrbotten, Sweden

    Author : Mattias Lindén; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sedimentologi; Sedimentology; Geologi; physical geography; Geology; glaciotectonic; thrust stacking; deforming bed; ribbed moraine; Niemisel moraine; De Geer moraine; isostatic uplift; glaciodynamics; deglaciation; klimatologi; kartografi; marklära; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; geomorphology; cartography; climatology; pedology;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to reconstruct the glaciodynamics, deglacial landforms, isostatic uplift and to date the deglaciation. Glaciodynamics and deglacial landforms were focused on to provide a process and depositional model for De Geer moraine and Niemisel moraine and to reveal their internal and spatial relationship, based on detailed sedimentological and structural investigations. 4. 4. Rheology of the mortar phase of concrete with crushed aggregate

    Author : Mikael Westerholm; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : In Sweden, concrete has traditionally been manufactured with glaciofluvial deposits as fine aggregate. In 2004 the production of this aggregate was approximately 21 million tons. Due to environmental reasons and local shortage of this natural resource there exists a goal to reduce the production to 12 million tons in year 2010. READ MORE
