  1. 1. Non-linear Optical Microscopy and Spectroscopy for Biomedical Studies

    Author : Stina Guldbrand; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Two-Photon Excitation Microscopy; Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy; Multiphoton Luminescence; Human Skin; Gold nanoparticles;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on the application of non-linear optical microscopy and spectroscopy techniques within biomedical research. Non-linear optical microscopy gives the possibility of exciting fluorophores using near infrared light. READ MORE

  2. 2. Synthesis and development of compounds for nonlinear absorption of light

    Author : Tomas Kindahl; Bertil Eliasson; Sascha Ott; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Platinum acetylide; nonlinear absorption; optical power limiting; oxazole; quantum chemistry calculation; quantum chemical calculation; triplet absorption; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry; Quantum Chemistry; kvantkemi;

    Abstract : High-intensity light — for instance that from a laser — can be destructive, not only to the human eye, but also to equipment such as imaging sensors and optical communication devices. Therefore, effective protection against such light is desirable. READ MORE

  3. 3. Plasmonic Nanostructures for Molecular Spectroscopy

    Author : Björn Brian; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SEF; DNA; EBL; Nanoparticles; rhodamine 6G; biosensors; SERS; fluorescence;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the fabrication, characterization and utilization of nanostructures for chemical sensing and optical enhancement processes.Noble metal nanostructures can support localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs), which amplify the strength of the electromagnetic field close to the structures. 4. 4. Zinc Oxide Bulk and Nanorods

    Author : Peter Klason; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zinc oxide; Schottky contact; buckling; annealing; semiconductor growth; ion implantation; photoluminescence; nanorods;

    Abstract : Zinc Oxide (ZnO) has many promising properties for optoelectronics, sensor applications, transparent electronics etc. To mention a few, ZnO has a large exciton binding energy (60 meV at room temperature) and a direct wide bandgap energy of 3.37 eV. In addition, ZnO is piezoelectric and shows more resistance to radiation damage than Si and GaN. READ MORE

  5. 5. Conjugated Luminescent Molecular Materials : An Experimental and Theoretical Study of Electronic, Optical and Chemical Properties of some Conjugated Molecules, Polymers and Interfaces

    Author : Nicklas Johansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In recent years intensive studies of conjugated polymers and molecules have been carried out all over the world. The most promising use for these materials appears at the moment to be as the active luminescent component in flat panel displays. READ MORE
