16. Structural Dynamics of Glass-Forming Liquids
Abstract : Neutron and light scattering experiments on glass-forming liquids, an oxide network, a polymeric system and a polymeric electrolyte, were performed. The network glass-former B2O3 was investigated from 60 - 1300 K. The experimental results were interpreted using mode coupling theory and the soft potential model. READ MORE

17. Structure and Dynamics of Silica Dispersions and Gels
Abstract : This thesis deal with the sol-gel transition of two quite different systems, both based on silica. The overall aim is to understand what interactions lead to this sol-gel transition and how the structure and dynamics change as a result of this. The first project concern the gelation of water glass, also known as alkaline sodium silicate solutions. 18. Time dependent material properties of shotcrete for hard rock tunnelling
Abstract : In this thesis different mechanical properties for shotcrete (sprayed concrete) such as compression strength, bond strength, bending tensile strength, elastic modulus, free and restrained shrinkage as a function of its age was investigated. One of the main issues was to investigate the difference between ordinary cast concrete and shotcrete. READ MORE

19. Relaxation and nanomechanical studies of the vickers residual stress field in glass
Abstract : The Vickers residual stress field (VRSF) in soda-lime glass results from the elastic-plastic contact event that takes place when a Vickers diamond pyramid is loaded onto the surface of the material in an indentation cycle. The importance of elastic-plastic indentation lies in the contact damage that it gives rise to in the surface of the glass. READ MORE

20. Disordered matter: From Ionic Glasses to Proteins
Abstract : Understanding the glassy state is regarded as one of the ten most important questions in physics in the 21st century [1]. This thesis deals with structure and dynamics of a few model disordered systems ranging from an ionic glass to proteins. The structure of an ionic liquid, Ca0.4K0. READ MORE
