  1. 1. Nanoplasmonic Alloy Hydrogen Sensors

    Author : Ferry Nugroho; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; indirect nanoplasmonic sensing; plasmonic sensors; hydrogen sensors; polymers; fiber optics; nanofabrication; localized surface plasmon resonance; alloy nanoparticles; carbon capture and storage; sensors; palladium;

    Abstract : The hydrogen economy proposes hydrogen gas as the main energy carrier thanks to its high energy density and the possibility to produce it in a sustainable way without CO2 emission. However, the wide flammability range of hydrogen-air mixtures dictates that hydrogen sensors will be a mandatory accessory to any appliance or vehicle fueled by hydrogen. READ MORE

  2. 2. Alloy Plasmonics - Fundamentals and Application in Catalysis

    Author : Christopher Tiburski; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CO oxidation; nanoparticles; gold; heterogeneous catalysis; LSPR; nanoalloys; nanofabrication; light; dielectric function; palladium;

    Abstract : Alloys have for a long time been important in the development of our society; from the bronze age, where man learned how to alloy copper with tin, to today, where many products are made of steel and aluminum alloys. Similarly, but maybe not as generally well known, also in heterogeneous catalysis alloys are explored to develop solutions to increase activity and selectivity of chemical processes. READ MORE

    Abstract : Alloys have for a long time been important in the development of our society; from the Bronze Age, where man learned how to alloy copper with tin, to today, where many products are made of steel and aluminum alloys. Similarly, but maybe not as generally well known, alloys have lately been proposed as a new paradigm in nanophotonics, to tailor optical properties of nanomaterials that find applications within telecommunication, sensing, or biotechnology. 4. 4. Oxidation and Reconstructions of Alloy Model Catalysts : Platinum-Rhodium and Palladium-Gold

    Author : Helen Edström; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alloying; APXPS; Bimetallic Catalysts; Heterogeneous Catalysis; HESXRD; Oxidation; Oxide Formation; Palladium-Gold; Platinum-Rhodium; Surface Reconstruction; Fysicumarkivet A:2023 Edström;

    Abstract : Alloys and bimetallic systems have shown many advantages in heterogeneous catalysis, but the details of their catalytic functions are not always known. For instance, the atomic details about surface reconstructions under catalytic reaction conditions, or which phases that are high-active or low-active. READ MORE

  5. 5. Characterization of Gold Pathfinder Minerals

    Author : Gabriel Kofi Nzulu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this Thesis, I investigate the properties of artisanal small-scale gold mining concentrate samples from the Kubi Gold Project of the Asante Gold Corporation near Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Central Region of Ghana with a material science perspective.X-ray diffraction (XRD) is used to identify SiO2 (quartz), Fe3O4 (magnetite), and Fe2O3 (hematite) as the main indicator minerals in the mining site while contributions from pyrite, arsenopyrites, iridosmine, scheelite, tetradymite, garnet, gypsum, and other sulfate minerals were insignificant.
