  1. 1. Heavy Metal Exposure in Early Life - Health and Labour Market Perspectives

    Author : Yana Pryymachenko; Centrum för ekonomisk demografi; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Metal pollution; accumulated exposure; lead pollution; GPA; education; earnings; infant mortality; cognitive skills;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of three empirical studies on the effects of exposure to heavy metal pollution in early childhood on a broad set of individual outcomes. The first study analyses how accumulated exposure to metal pollution during childhood affects long-run outcomes. READ MORE

  3. 3. High pressure structural investigations using single crystal techniques : influence of pressure on Jahn-Teller distorted alkali manganese fluorides

    Author : Stefan Carlson; Stefan Werner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi; strukturkemi; Structural Chemistry;

    Abstract : The results from high-pressure single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies of some ternary sodium transition metal fluorides are presented. The structures of NaMnF4, Na2MnF5, Na3MnF6 and Na3ScF6 have been investigated at high pressures, and in connection with these studies the Na5Mn3F14 structure has been investigated at ambient pressure. 4. 4. Structural changes during cellulose composite processing

    Author : Helena Halonen; Monica Ek; Tommy Iversen; Derek D. Gray; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CP MAS 13C NMR; cellulose; fibril aggregation; biocomposite; compression moulding; supramolecular structure;

    Abstract : Two approaches for creating a new all-cellulose composite material have been studied: the biosynthesis of compartmentalised bacterial cellulose fibril aggregates and the compression moulding of commercial chemical wood pulps processed with only water. The objective was to study the structural changes during processing and the complexity of relating the mechanical properties of the final biocomposites to the nanoscale structure was highlighted. 5. 5. Experimental investigation of molecular solids and vanadium at high pressure and temperature

    Author : Zsolt Jenei; Reinhold Schuch; William Evans; Stefan Klotz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecular solid; high pressure; vanadium; phase transition; Physics; Fysik; Physics Of Matter; materiefysik;

    Abstract : Understanding high pressure effects on simple molecular system is of great interest for condensed matter science and geophysics. Accessing the static pressure and temperature regions found in planetary interiors is made possible by the development of the Diamond Anvil Cell technique. READ MORE
