  1. 1. Adolescent mental health : time trends and validity of self-report measures

    Author : Ida Blomqvist; Eva Henje; Inga Dennhag; Anne Hammarström; Lotte Haverman; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adolescent; classical test theory; computer adaptive testing; cross-sectional; differential item functioning; graded response model; item banks; item response theory; measurement invariance; mental health; Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System; Reynolds Adolescent Depression Scale second edition; self-report measures; time trends; barn- och ungdomspsykiatri; Child and Youth Psychiatry;

    Abstract : Background: Studies of time trends of adolescent self-reported mental health suggest an increase of mental health symptoms globally. Unfortunately, several studies within the field have methodological problems, such as short time-period between measurements and different mental health measures over time. READ MORE

  2. 2. Factors influencing the inflammatory response and secondary infection in rat pancreatitis

    Author : Erkki Tarpila; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : A rat~model for bile-induced acute pancreatitis is used throughout the experiments. The model, which is well known, mimics the assumed events leading to biliary pancreatitis. The mortality from acute pancreatitis with this model was 23-33% and 73% of all deaths occurred within the first 24 hours. READ MORE

  3. 3. Road traffic noise reduction by multiple scattering and absorption mechanisms

    Author : Bart van der Aa; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Outdoor sound propagation; Sonic crystals; Road traffic noise; FDTD; Noise barriers; MST; Porous materials; 2.5D MST; Graded index sonic crystals;

    Abstract : Millions of people in Europe, and even more on a global scale, are affected by environ- mental noise. Traffic related noise is estimated to cause a yearly loss of approximately one million healthy life years in Western Europe, which is mostly related to road traffic noise. READ MORE

  4. 4. Resilient and permanent deformation behavior of unbound aggregates under repeated loading

    Author : Fredrick Lekarp; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : During recent decades, growing interest in the developmentof so-called analytical or mechanistic road pavement designmethods has resulted in substantial research into themechanical behavior of the materials involved. In flexiblepavements, especially when unsurfaced or thinly surfaced,overall structural performance is largely dependent on thebehavior of the unbound granular base and subbase layers. READ MORE

  5. 5. Melanophores : cell biophysics and sensor applications

    Author : Martin Testorf; P. Åke Öberg; Ingemar Lundström; Philip McFadden; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with studies of melanophores and melanosomes by means of a physical approach. Melanophores are pigment cells that give the black colour to many vertebrates, e.g. fishes, frogs, and reptiles. READ MORE
