  1. 1. The structure of epsilon-strongly group graded rings

    Author : Daniel Lännström; Johan Öinert; Stefan Wagner; Patrik Lundström; Gene Abrams; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; group graded ring; Leavitt path algebra; partial crossedproduct; Cuntz-Pimsner ring; von Neumann regular ring; non-unital ring; Mathematics and applications; Matematik med tillämpningar;

    Abstract : The development of a general theory of strongly group graded rings was initiated by Dade, Năstăsescu and Van Oystaeyen in the 1980s, and since then numerous structural results have been established.  In this thesis we develop a general theory of so-called (nearly) epsilon-strongly group graded rings which were recently introduced by Nystedt, Öinert and Pinedo and which generalize strongly group graded rings. 2. 2. The structure of epsilon-strongly graded rings with applications to Leavitt path algebras and Cuntz-Pimsner rings

    Author : Daniel Lännström; Johan Öinert; Stefan Wagner; Patrik Nystedt; Eduard Ortega; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; group graded ring; epsilon-strongly graded ring; chain conditions; Leavitt path algebra; partial crossed product; Cuntz-Pimsner rings;

    Abstract : The research field of graded ring theory is a rich area of mathematics with many connections to e.g. the field of operator algebras. In the last 15 years, algebraists and operator algebraists have defined algebraic analogues of important operator algebras. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mind in Action : Action Representation and the Perception of Biological Motion

    Author : Paul Hemeren; Högskolan i Skövde; []

    Abstract : The ability to understand and communicate about the actions of others is a fundamental aspect of our daily activity. How can we talk about what others are doing? What qualities do different actions have such that they cause us to see them as being different or similar? What is the connection between what we see and the development of concepts and words or expressions for the things that we see? To what extent can two different people see and talk about the same things? Is there a common basis for our perception, and is there then a common basis for the concepts we form and the way in which the concepts become lexicalized in language? The broad purpose of this thesis is to relate aspects of perception, categorization and language to action recognition and conceptualization. READ MORE

  4. 4. Graded index sonic crystal noise barriers: An introduction to design and optimization

    Author : Bart van der Aa; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Shape optimal design; Broadband acoustic lens; Optimization; Outdoor sound propagation; Sonic crystal noise barrier; Graded index sonic crystal;

    Abstract : Environmental noise pollution and its impact on human beings remains to be an important topic in acoustics. Conservative estimations of the World Health Organization have shown that traffic related noise alone causes a loss of approximately one million healthy life years, only within Western Europe. 5. 5. Wave propagation in graded material composites with extraordinary properties

    Author : Brage B. Svendsen; Mariana Dalarsson; Martin Norgren; Astrid Aksnes; KTH; []
