1. On the Size and Shape of Polymers and Polymer Complexes : A Computational and Light Scattering Study
Abstract : Detailed characterization of size and shape of polymers, and development of methods to elucidate the mechanisms behind shape transitions are central issues in this thesis. In particular we characterize grafted polymer chains under confinement in terms of the chain entanglement complexity and mean molecular size. READ MORE

2. Covalent Vapor-Phase Grafting of Degradable Polymers
READ MORE

3. Covalent Surface Modification of Degradable Polymers for Increased Biocompatibility
Abstract : Degradable polymers have gained an increased attention in the field of biomedical applications over the past decades, for example in tissue engineering. One way of improving the biocompatibility of these polymers is by chemical surface modification, however the risk of degradation during the modification procedure is a limiting factor. READ MORE

4. Charged Polymers at Spherical Surfaces
Abstract : Two separate topics in the area of colloidal chemistry have been investigated by the use of molecular modeling: the structural properties of polyion?macroion complexes and of diblock polyampholyte brushes. The main results were obtained by the use of Monte Carlo simulation in the framework of the primitive model, and in the case of polyampholyte brushes the simulation results were also complemented by lattice mean-field calculations. 5. Brownian Dynamics Simulations of Macromolecules : Algorithm Development and Polymers under Confinement
Abstract : In this thesis I have used computer simulations to study the structure and dynamics of grafted polymers during confinement. These systems are of importance for understanding e.g. colloidal stability and surface coatings. READ MORE
