    Author : Inger von Bültzingslöwen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Many anticancer drugs, e.g. 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), may cause oral mucositis and ulcerations. These adverse reactions can be severe and debilitating to the patient, and adjustment of the cancer treatment may be necessary. READ MORE

  2. 2. Perinuclear Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

    Author : Ping Yang; Stefan Lindgren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCAs) are a group of autoantibodies which are specific for granulocyte antigens. By indirect immunofluorescence (llF) on ethanol-fixed neutrophils, ANCAs can be divided into two types: a cytoplasmic staining pattern (C-ANCA) or a perinuclear staining pattern (P-ANCA). READ MORE

  3. 3. Bacterial Vaginosis : Diagnosis, Prevalence, and Treatment

  4. 4. Immunomodulation by intravenous immunoglobulin : the effect on cytokine production studied at the single-cell level

    Author : Ulrika Skansén-Saphir; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Preparations of pooled human immunoglobulin for intravenous use (IVIg) have an established therapeutic role in immunodeficiencies, Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura and Kawasaki's disease and has been attempted in other immunologically mediated conditions including autoimmunity, malignancies, bone marrow transplantation and serious infections such as group A streptococcal toxic shock syndrome. The effects of IVIg on cytokine synthesis in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) was studied in vitro by applying a new immunohistochemical method for detection of cytokine production at a single cell level.
