16. Measuring the solar atmosphere
Abstract : The new CRISP filter at the Swedish 1-m Solar Telescope provides opportunities for observing the solar atmosphere with unprecedented spatial resolution and cadence. In order to benefit from the high quality of observational data from this instrument, we have developed methods for calibrating and restoring polarized Stokes images, obtained at optical and near infrared wavelengths, taking into account field-of-view variations of the filter properties. 17. Mineralogical influence of different cooling conditions on leaching behaviour of steelmaking slags
Abstract : The Swedish steelmaking industry produces large amounts of by-products. In 2006, the total amount of slag produced reached approximately 1 375 000 metric tons, of which 30% was deposited. Due to its strength, durability and chemistry, steel slag is of interest in the field of construction due to it's similarities with ordinary ballast stone. READ MORE

18. Identification and Variation of some Functionality Related Characteristics of Pharmaceutically Relevant Solid Materials and their Effect on Product Performance
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to identify some functionality related characteristics of pharmaceutically relevant solid materials and to study the effect of their variation on processing behaviour and product performance. For this purpose, particles with different characteristics were prepared under a variety of conditions by crystal agglomeration, wet granulation and spray drying. READ MORE

19. Silicon Carbide and Silicon Nitride Ceramics Based on Colloidal Processing and Sol-Gel Techniques
Abstract : The work in this dissertation deals with the development of silicon carbide and silicon nitride-based materials using colloidal processing and sol-gel techniques. Special attention has been given to the optimization of the homogeneity in ceramic multicomponent systems. READ MORE

20. Composition and dynamics of the bacterial community in aerobic granular sludge reactors
Abstract : The aerobic granular sludge (AGS) technology is probably the future standard for wastewater treatment, due to its low footprint and low energy consumption. Although achieving granulation is usually not a challenge anymore, our understanding of the community assembly during start-up, and of the microbial ecology of these reactors in general, is incomplete.
