  1. 1. Novel Solid Phase Extraction and Mass Spectrometry Approaches to Multicomponent Analyses in Complex Matrices

    Author : Nahid Amini; Gunnar Thorsén; Tuulia Hyötyläinen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sample preparation; SPE; RAM; GCB µ-trap; GCB disk; High temperature LC; LC MS; ESI; APCI; Matrix effects; LIT-MS; SALDI; Sample screening; Oxidized GCB; Silicon nitride; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Analysis of compounds present in complex matrices is always a challenge, which can be partly overcome by applying various sample preparation techniques prior to detection. Ideally, the extraction techniques should be as selective as possible, to minimize the concentration of interfering substances. READ MORE

  2. 2. Textile Related Chemicals: Analytical Approaches Towards the Assessment of Human and Environmental Exposures

    Author : Francesco Iadaresta; Conny Östman; Carlo Crescenzi; Jan Holmbäck; Peter Haglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; graphitized carbon black- GCB; franz cell; diffusion cell; risk assessment; screening; textile; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : The textile manufacturing chain involves an extensive use of chemicals as early as fabric-production. To confer special features to textile materials, more chemicals are required in subsequent steps. Furthermore, potentially harmful substances can end up in clothes as transformation products. 3. 3. Novel clean-up, concentration and laser desorption/ionization strategies for mass spectrometry

    Author : Mohammadreza Shariatgorji; Leopold Ilag; Juan Astorga-wells; Bernhard Spengler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass spectrometry; ESI-MS; SALDI-MS; Electrocapture; Sample treatment; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Despite valuable advantages of mass spectrometry (MS) techniques they still have drawbacks that need to be overcome, notably their sensitivity to various kinds of interfering substances and associated difficulties involved in detecting signals from analytes present in trace quantities. Thus, high quality analytical data could be acquired by improving sample pre-treatment techniques and/or ionization methods to increase ionization yields and/or avoid the generation of unwanted ions.
