16. Nesting ecology of the grass snake (Natrix natrix) and its implications for conservation
Abstract : The onset of agriculture about 12,000 years ago has had a major influence on the biodiversity of plants and animals. Unfortunately, the rapid changes in agricultural practices that has occurred in recent times has negatively affected many farmland species. READ MORE

17. Improved utilisation of grass silage in milk production : harvesting strategy and feeding value
Abstract : The aim of the studies reported in this thesis was to optimise grass silage utilisation in milk production. In the first paper of this thesis data from digestibility trials with sheep fed at maintenance level were used to investigate the effect of forage type and harvesting time of silage on energy and N metabolism. 18. Within-species variation in grass weeds in Sweden : dormancy, herbicide response, genetic relationships
Abstract : Variation within a weed species enables it to persist through varying conditions and is thus an important component of weediness. In this thesis, intra-specific variation in two agronomically important attributes - herbicide susceptibility and seed dormancy - are studied in Swedish Apera spica-venti (L.) Beauv. and Alopecurus myosuroides Huds. READ MORE

19. Amperometric biosensors of food analysis relevance: Emphasis on the neurotoxin beta-ODAP in grass pea
Abstract : Enzyme-based amperometric biosensors have been developed and characterized in flow systems for a variety of analytes such as [beta]-N-oxalyl-[alfa],[beta]-diamionpropionic acid ([beta]-ODAP), L-glutamate, glucose, lactate, and sucrose, that have food analysis relevance. The principle of enzyme "wiring" using polymeric mediators poly(1-vinylimidazole) {(Os-4, 4' dimethylbipyridyl)2Cl3+/2+} and poly(4-vinlypyridine {Os(N,N'-dimethyl-2,2'-biimidazole)3}3+/2+ has been employed in most of the sensors developed, which resulted in the fabrication of sensitive, stable and reproducible biosensors with carbonaceous electrodes (spectrographic graphite and glassy carbon). 20. The Voice of the Patient
Abstract : Allergic diseases, which constitute a global health problem, have been defined as one of the epidemics of the twenty-first century. Since there are no cures for allergic diseases today, the goal of treatment is to get the disease under control so that the patient can live a normal life with optimal chances of development.
