  1. 1. Designing and Evaluating Human-Robot Communication : Informing Design through Analysis of User Interaction

    Author : Anders Green; Kerstin Severinson Eklundh; Henrik Christensen; Candice Sidner; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Human-Robot Interaction; Human-Robot Communication; Natural language user interfaces; Interaction Design; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the design and evaluation of human-robot communication for service robots that use natural language to interact with people.  The research is centred around three themes: design of human-robot communication; evaluation of miscommunication in human-robot communication; and the analysis of spatial influence as empiric phenomenon and design element. 2. 2. Modalities of Place: On Polarisation and Exclusion in Concepts of Place and in Site-Specific Art

    Author : Gunnar Sandin; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; interior design; Architecture; Actants; Modalities; Place; Site-Specific Art; Arkitektur; inredningsarkitektur;

    Abstract : In this thesis the notion of place is studied by way of investigating the “non-place” which is excluded or opposed, whenever a place is defined. “Non-place” is used here as a meta-concept, covering various recurring types of opposition to “place,” and it therefore represents a profoundly incoherent spect-rum of realities and concepts. 3. 3. Exploration and Optimization of Building Design Solutions using Computational Design

    Author : Jani Mukkavaara; Marcus Sandberg; Timo Hartmann; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Building information modeling; Evolutionary design; Generative design; Parametric design; Byggproduktion och teknik; Construction Management and Building Technology;

    Abstract : The focus of building design is increasingly moving towards considering performance as a driver, which can especially be seen in the realm of sustainable or green building design due to the advent of ambitious goals regarding energy consumption and emissions. Accounting for these concerns is an important target of the building design process, where there is a potential to make valuable contributions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Macromolecular design : UV-curable thiol-ene networks based on renewable resources

    Author : Mauro Claudino; Mats Johansson; Michael Meier; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Plant oils and terpenes are ubiquitous natural renewable compounds. The double bonds contained in most of these monomers can be utilized via the photo-induced free-radical thiol–ene reaction to create novel bio-derived polymer thermosets representing a valuable ‘green’ alternative to petrochemical olefins and resulting synthetic plastic materials. 5. 5. Controlling Forced Response of a High Pressure Turbine Blade

    Author : Jeff Green; Torsten Fransson; Robert Kielb; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : Vibration induced High Cycle Fatigue (HCF) is a major consideration in designing gas turbines. Indeed, the Gas Turbine manufacturer must demonstrate that the vibration level of the turbomachinery blading is acceptably low, usually by using an engine strain gauge test. READ MORE
