  1. 6. Free charge carrier properties in group III nitrides and graphene studied by THz-to-MIR ellipsometry and optical Hall effect

    Author : Nerijus Armakavicius; Vanya Darakchieva; Philipp Kühne; Stefan Zollner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Development of silicon based electronics have revolutionized our every day life during the last five decades. Nowadays silicon based devices operate close to their theoretical limits that is becoming a bottleneck for further progress. READ MORE

  2. 7. Optically detected magnetic resonance studies of intrinsic defects in dilute nitrides and SiC

    Author : Nguyen Quoc Thinh; Marek Godlewski; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Self-interstitials, vacancies and antisites belong to an important class of defects -intrinsic defects - in compound semiconductors. They have been found to be common occurring defects in semiconductor crystals grown under non-optimized or non-equilibrium conditions or subject to high-energy particle bombardment. READ MORE

  3. 8. Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy of III-Nitride Semiconductors

    Author : Justinas Palisaitis; Per Persson; Lars Hultman; Jens Birch; Ernesto Coronel; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This Licentiate Thesis covers experimental and theoretical investigations of the bulk plasmon response to different compositions and strain states of group III-nitride materials. Investigated materials were grown using magnetron sputtering epitaxy and metal organic chemical vapour deposition and studied by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). 4. 9. Valence Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy of III-Nitride Semiconductors

    Author : Justinas Pališaitis; Per Persson; Lars Hultman; Jens Birch; Vicki Keast; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This doctorate thesis covers both experimental and theoretical investigations of the optical responses of the group III-nitrides (AlN, GaN, InN) and their ternary alloys. The goal of this research has been to explore the usefulness of valence electron energy loss spectroscopy (VEELS) for materials characterization of group III-nitride semiconductors at the nanoscale. 5. 10. Optical and Structural Characterization of GaN Based Hybrid Structures and Nanorods

    Author : Mathias Forsberg; Galia Pozina; Ching-Lien Hsiao; Oleksandr Plashkevych; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : GaN belongs to the group III nitrides and is today the material of choice for efficient blue light emission, enabling solid state white lighting by combining red, blue and green light emitting diodes (LED) or by having a blue LED illuminating a phosphor. By combining GaN quantum well (QW) structures with colloids, nanoparticles or polyfluorene films, LEDs may be fabricate at lower cost. READ MORE
