  1. 1. Fields of Gold : The Bioenergy Debate in International Organizations

    Author : Magdalena Kuchler; Björn-Ola Linnér; Johan Hedrén; Eva Friman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; bioenergy; biofuels; debate; discourse; concept; international organizations; international relations; FAO; IEA; IPCC; energy security; climate change; food security; food vs. fuel; bioenergi; biobränsle; debatt; diskurs; begrepp; internationella organisationer; internationella relationer; FAO; IEA; IPCC; energisäkerhet; klimatförändringar; livsmedelssäkerhet;

    Abstract : The concept of producing energy from biomass has, for the last two decades, occupied attention of policy-makers, private industries, researchers and civil societies around the world. The highly contested and contingent character of the biofuel production, its entanglement in the nexus of three problematic issues of energy, climate and agriculture, as well as its injection into the current socioeconomic arrangements, is what makes it timely to analyse. 2. 2. DESIREE: Instrumentation Developments and Hot Metal Cluster Decays

    Author : Emma K. Anderson; Henning Schmidt; Henrik Cederquist; Henning Zettergren; Oded Heber; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DESIREE; microchannel plate; clusters; spontaneous decay; small metal cluster anions; silver; copper; gold; carbon dianions; fragmentation; vibrational autodetachment; DESIREE; mikrokanalplattor; kluster; spontana sönderfall; små metallklusteranjoner; silver; koppar; guld; kol di-anjoner; fragmentering; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents instrumentation developments and measurements performed at the Double ElectroStatic Ion Ring ExpEriment, DESIREE, at Stockholm University. DESIREE operates at cryogenic temperatures ~13 K, with very low background pressures of ~10-14mbar, allowing the observation of stored ions to long times of tens of seconds and longer. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dental gold and contact allergy

    Author : Camilla Ahlgren; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; contact dermatitis; gold alloys adverse effects; inlays;

    Abstract : Guld har i många år använts som rekonstruktionsmaterial vid bettrehabilitering. Mer än 50% av Sveriges vuxna befolkning har kronor och/eller broar framställda i guldlegering och guld används också till stift i rotfyllda tänder, på vilka sedan kronor kan fästas. Guld har länge betraktats vara inert, dvs. READ MORE

  4. 4. Model Systems for Metal - DNA Interactions. With a Focus on Anticancer Active Platinum(II) Complexes

    Author : Anna Ericson; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kinetics; DNA; poly d T ; guanine; 6-thioinosine-5 -monophosphate; 6-thio-2 -deoxyinosine; 4-thiouridine-5 -monophosphate; 4-thio-2 -deoxyuridine; palladium II ; Gold III ; platinum II ; mechanism; salt effect; activation parameters; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Reactions of trans-dicyanodichloroaurate(III) trans-dibromodicyanoaurate(III), trans-diamminedichlorogold(III), cis-diammine(aqua)chloroplatinum(II), cis-ammineaqua-(cyclohexylamine)chloroplatinum(II), chloro(terpyridine)platinum(II) and chloro-(diethylenetriaminepalldium(II) with dimethyl sulfide, thionucleosides, thionucleotides and thione- and guanine-containing 17-mer oligonucleotides have been investigated by use of conventional and high-pressure stopped-flow spectrophotometry and HPLC technique as a function of ionic strength, pH, temperature and pressure in aqueous solutions. The mechanism and rate of oxidation of dimethyl sulfide by gold(III) complexes depends on the concentration of free halide. READ MORE

  5. 5. Clinical And Experimental Studies of Contact Allergy to Stent Metals - with focus on gold

    Author : Susanne Ekqvist; Yrkes- och miljödermatologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; B-Au; patch testing; restenosis; contact allergy; Dermatology; metals; gold; stent; B-Ni; nickel;

    Abstract : A large number of patients are treated with coronary stents, and restenosis (recurrent narrowing of the vessel) is a serious problem. Contact allergy to metal ions eluted from stainless steel stents has been suggested to contribute to in-stent restenosis. READ MORE
