1. Nitric oxide synthase in female reproductive and urinary organs: Hormonal regulation and functional significance
Abstract : Nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity was studied in cytosolic and particulate fractions in reproductive organs from rabbit (uterus and vagina) and rat (uterus, vagina and cervix). NOS was found predominantly in cytosolic fractions in all tissues and the activity of NOS in both fractions was highly Ca2+ dependent. READ MORE

2. Fetal ECG waveform analysis for intrapartum monitoring
Abstract : Waveform analysis of the fetal electrocardiogram has been studied since the early seventies from both physiological, signal processing and clinical aspects. It has been found to contain more useful information than the mere detection of RR-intervals (fetal heart rate), e.g. READ MORE

3. Minimal conization with carbon dioxide laser for treatment of cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia
Abstract : 3,100 non-pregnant women and 85 pregnants were miniconized during the 15-year period ending 1994 . The outpatient procedure of minimal conization using a freehand-guided, high power 60W carbon dioxide laser focused to 0.1 mm in spot-size, giving high power density 165,000 W/cm2, produces single-piece tissue specimens for histological examination. 4. The significance of urokinase-type plasminogen activator (u-PA) in tumour growth and Linomide-induced upregulation of u-PA's endogenous inhibitor PAI-2
Abstract : The progressive process of tumour invasion and generation of metastases is the primary cause of death for most patients with cancer. Some of the regulatory components of this progressive process are adhesion, migration, and proteolysis. READ MORE

5. Ovarian tumors. Prevalence, malignancy risk and significance of the Plasminogen activation system
Abstract : The aims were to assess the prevalence of ovarian tumors in fertile asymptomatic women and to evaluate the risk of ovarian cancer in women with a history of benign ovarian tumors and endometriosis. In order to search for biomarkers in ovarian tumors, the plasminogen activating (PA) system was studied. READ MORE
