1. Control of particles codeposition and strengthening mechanisms in nickel based nanocomposite coatings
Abstract : Surface durability is a key factor in the service life of components. Depending on the aggressiveness of the environment, surface deterioration by wear or corrosion leads to failure of the bulk material and eventually to the loss of functionality of the component. READ MORE

2. On the low primary water stress corrosion cracking susceptibility of weld deformed Alloy 690
Abstract : It has been shown in recent years that the nickel-base Alloy 690 can become susceptible to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in the primary water of nuclear power plants with pressurized water reactors if it has been sufficiently deformed at room temperature. Although the material is not intentionally used in a deformed state, it can become deformed by various manufacturing processes. READ MORE

3. Mechanical and thermal stability of hard nitride coatings
Abstract : Hard coating’s thermal stability is essential due to the high temperature environment of high-speed cutting applications, while the phase and microstructure evolution induced by exposing the coating to high temperature affects the mechanical properties. In this thesis, the mechanical stability of arc-evaporated, hard, transition metal nitride coatings annealed at high temperature is analyzed and related to the phase and microstructure evolution. 4. Casting and anodising of Al alloys- Alloy design, manufacturing process and material properties
Abstract : Casting and semi-solid metal (SSM) casting are widely used to manufacture near-net-shape components of Al-Si alloys in the automotive and electronic industries. In such applications, casting components need to meet the combined requirements of good mechanical properties and corrosion and wear resistance. READ MORE

5. Neutron scattering studies of hard metals
Abstract : Since their discovery about 100 years ago, tools made of hard metals have been the enablers of development in various areas: from drilling subway lines for more sustainable cities to the machining of complex next-generation airplane engine parts for reduced CO2 emissions. An increase in properties of hard metals thus leads to efficient operations with shorter lead-time, less environmental footprint, and reduced cost. READ MORE
