  1. 1. Sharp Bounds for Calderón-Zygmund Operators in a Vector-Valued Setting

    Author : Andrei Stoica; Matematik (naturvetenskapliga fakulteten); []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Calderón-Zygmund operator; martingale transform; Bellman function; dyadic Haar shift; UMD space; matrix A2 weight; weighted L2-space; Carleson embedding theorem;

    Abstract : In this thesis we extend several classical results about Calderón-Zygmund operators to spaces of vector-valued functions. We first obtain bounds for the norm of dyadic Haar shift operators using a Bellman function technique, and then apply the representation theorem to obtain corresponding results for general Calderón-Zygmund operators. 2. 2. Filtering and Wavelet Regression Methods with Application to Exercise ECG

    Author : Stefan Peterson; Matematisk statistik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aktuariematematik; programmering; operationsanalys; Statistik; actuarial mathematics; programming; operations research; Statistics; Model Selection; Robust Estimation; Haar Wavelets; Wavelets; Time Series Analysis; Exercise ECG; Kalman Filter;

    Abstract : The analysis of the recorded electrical activity of the heart during an exercise test is a valuable method for investigating a patient's circulatory and respiratory system. But the disturbances that occurr during a test often make it difficult to interpret the signal in order to detect changes evoked by the increased workload and related to for instance coronary artery diseases. 3. 3. Linear statistics of random matrices and log-gases

    Author : Klara Courteaut; Kurt Johansson; Christian Webb; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with point processes arising in Random Matrix Theory. It is a compilation thesis: it consists of an introduction and three research papers.In Paper A and Paper B, we study random matrices from the classical compact groups, namely orthogonal, unitary, and symplectic matrices distributed according to Haar measure.
