  1. 1. Hadron Physics in a Polarized World : Exploring Electromagnetic Interactions with Spin Observables

    Author : Viktor Thorén; Andrzej Kupsc; Karin Schönning; Magnus Wolke; David Ireland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hadron; Hyperon; Meson; Polarization; Spin observables; Electromagnetic interactions; BESIII; Fysik med inriktning mot kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : The electromagnetic interactions of hadrons serve as a valuable probe of the nature of the strong force at low energies and simultaneously allow for tests of fundamental discrete symmetries. In this thesis, I show how polarization observables can be used to gain an in-depth understanding of these processes and present two analyses of data from the BESIII experiment where such observables have been studied. 2. 2. Charged kaon and proton production in B-hadron decays

    Author : Fredrik Tegenfeldt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiation sciences; Högenergifysik; LEP; DELPHI; B-hadron; proton; kaon; Strålningsvetenskap; Radiation biology; Strålningsbiologi; High Energy Physics; Högenergifysik;

    Abstract : The production of charged kaons and protons in B-hadron decays has been measured in e+e- annihilations at centre-of-mass energies corresponding to the Z0 mass. In total 1.6 million hadronic Z0 decays were analysed, corresponding to about 690000 B-hadron decays. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Charm of Excited Glue : Charmonium in e+e– and ppbar collisions

    Author : Agnes Lundborg; Ulrich Wiedner; Helmuth Koch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; hadron; charmonium; PANDA; antiproton; annihilations; spin-parity exotics; gluonic excitations; BES; hybrid; glueball; resonances; radiative decays; electromagnetic transitions; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis treats the mass range of charmonium states and excited gluonic fields in two experiments, BESII and PANDA, and outlines a phenomenological model that connects them.In BESII, e+e– form a charmonium initial state, which is utilised as a source for secondary particles.
