1. Neutron Halo Nuclei
Abstract : In light nuclei close to the neutron drip-line a spatially extended neutron distribution, the neutron, halo occurs. This is due to the relatively small binding energy of the last neutrons which makes possible quantum mechanical tunnelling of the last neutron(s) far away from the nuclear core. READ MORE

2. Searching for dark matter in the Galactic Halo with IceCube using high energy cascades
Abstract : The presence of dark matter is inferred at scales ranging from rotations of galaxies to imprints in the CMB – the Big Bang after-glow. The nature of dark matter is, however, still unknown as no detection other than the gravitational one has been made. READ MORE

3. Dark Matter in the Galactic Halo : A Search Using Neutrino Induced Cascades in the DeepCore Extension of IceCube
Abstract : A search for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) annihilating in the dark matter halo of the Milky Way was performed, using data from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and its low-energy extension DeepCore. The data were collected during one year between 2011 to 2012 corresponding to 329.1 days of detector livetime. READ MORE

4. Effective Field Theory and One-proton Halo Nuclei
Abstract : In this thesis we present formalism for treating one-proton halo nuclei in effective field theory. Halo nuclei are loosely bound systems consisting of a core plus valence nucleon(s). In so called Halo, or Cluster, effective field theory, the core of the halo nucleus is treated as a structureless, effective degree-of-freedom. READ MORE

5. Chemical Abundance Analysis of Population II Stars : The Summary Includes a Background in General Astronomy
Abstract : We are made of stardust in the sense that most atomic nuclei around us have been formed by stars. Stars synthesise new elements and expel them to the interstellar medium, from which later new generations of stars are born. We can map this chemical evolution by analysing the atmospheric contents of old Galactic halo stars. READ MORE
