1. Oppositely Charged Polyelectrolytes in Solution
Abstract : This thesis is about the formation of complexes in solutions of oppositely charged polyions. We consider mainly three topics: 1)Monte Carlo simulations of oppositely charged polyelectrolytes with a focus on cluster compositions. READ MORE

2. Evaluation of Myocardial Function in Chronic Kidney Disease : A Colour Tissue Velocity Imaging Study
Abstract : In patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), overhydration, uremic toxins and left ventricular (LV) dyssynchrony are factors that may lead to LV dysfunction and conduction abnormalities and thus contribute to the high cardiac mortality. Colour tissue velocity imaging (TVI) allows a detailed quantitative analysis of cardiac function in CKD patients, opening new possibilities to evaluate longitudinal myocardial motion, rapid isovolumetric events, LV filling pressure and LV synchronicity. 3. Group Planning among L2 Learners of Italian: A Conversation Analytic Perspective
Abstract : In line with the call for a process-oriented and ecologically sound approach to planning in SLA (Ellis, 2005), and with the behavioral approach adopted in other fields (Murphy, 2004, 2005; Suchman, 1987, 2007), the present work applies Conversation Analysis to the study of group planning. The participants are four groups of adult learners of Italian as a foreign language, engaged in the preparation of a classroom presentation in their L2. READ MORE

4. Experimental and modelling studies of the thermophysical and thermochemical properties of some slag systems
Abstract : In order to optimize the metallurgical processes it is necessary to improve the understandings of the industrial slag properties, which include thermophysical and thermochemical properties. In the present study Mass Triangle Model was applied to predict these properties. READ MORE

5. The Ergodic revisited : spatiality as a governing principle of digital literature
Abstract : This dissertation examines the role of the spatial in four works of digital interactive literature. These works are Dreamaphage by Jason Nelson (2003), Last Meal Requested by Sachiko Hayashi (2003), Façade by Michael Mateas and Andrew Stern (2005) and Egypt: The Book of Going Forth by Day by M. D. Coverley (2006). READ MORE
