  1. 16. Gasoline Engine HCCI Combustion - Extending the high load limit

    Author : Daniel Dahl; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NVO; stratified charge; gasoline engine; high load; knock.; HCCI; stoichiometric; CAI; ringing; SCCI;

    Abstract : There is an increasing global focus on reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.For the automotive industry this means reducing CO2 emissions of the vehiclesmanufactured, which is synonymous with reducing their fuel consumption oradapting them for using renewable fuels. READ MORE

  2. 17. Low Emission Concepts for Diesel Engines

    Author : Arjan Helmantel; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; post injection; adjustable valve timing; two-colour pyrometry; Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition; emissions; piezo injector; swirl; combustion; Diesel; HCCI; endoscope;

    Abstract : In the recent past, the Diesel engine has been improved considerably in the areas of performance, fuel efficiency and exhaust emissions. In Europe, these improvements have resulted in a strong increase in the sales of passenger cars equipped with a Diesel engine. READ MORE

  3. 18. Stochastic Reactor Models for Engine Simulations

    Author : Martin Tunér; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SRM; Stochastic Reactor Model; Engine Simulation; Chemical kinetics; HCCI; Direct injection; Combustion; NVO; Modeling; PDF;

    Abstract : The aim of the thesis work is the further development of practical engine simulation tools based on Stochastic Reactor Models, SRMs. Novel and efficient implementations were made of a variety of SRMs adapted to different engine types. The models in question are the HCCI-SRM, the TwoZone SI-SRM and the DI-SRM. READ MORE

  4. 19. CFD Modelling of a Free-Piston Engine Using Detailed Chemistry

    Author : Miriam Bergman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; free-piston; combustion; Diesel; compression ignition; chemical kinetics; HCCI; Computational Fluid Dynamics;

    Abstract : The Free Piston Engine, FPE, which is capable of operating in a variable compression ratio mode, is highly suitable for the promising Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) concept, allowing flexible auto-ignition control on a cycle-to-cycle basis without any hardware modifications. In this study, the effects of varying the start of injection on the emission formation and efficiency of such an engine have been investigated, using simulations based on the KIVA-3V CFD code. 5. 20. BlueBellMouse. A Tool for Kinetic Model Development

    Author : Raffaella Bellanca; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; combustion; HCCI; reduction; engine; kinetic; simulation; graphical user interface; GUI; optimization; chemical mechanism; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Bellanca;

    Abstract : The simulation of physical phenomena occurring in chemical reactors requires the description of the kinetics involved in the underlying combustion process. Kinetic models are developed for this purpose. READ MORE
