  1. 1. Essays on Mergers and Acquisitions and Event Studies

    Author : Mohammad Irani; Lars Nordén; Rickard Sandberg; Neslihan Ozkan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; mergers and acquisitions; event study; prediction; payment method; conditional CAPM; time-varying parameters; structural change methodology; variance; covariance; företagsekonomi; Business Administration;

    Abstract : This dissertation consists of three studies on the anticipation of mergers and acquisitions (M&As) and its impact on takeover event studies. Article I investigates whether the market can anticipate both takeovers and their payment forms prior to their announcement dates. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mild head injury : Relation to cognition, dementia, fatigue & genetics

    Author : Anna Sundström; Lars Nyberg; Maria Levander; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Neuropsychology; mild head injury; mild brain injury; apolipoprotein E; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : Following a mild head injury (MHI), a person may report a variety of symptoms such as headache, memory disturbance, dizziness, and concentration difficulties. For most persons the symptoms are transient, but some suffer persistent symptoms that can have a major impact on everyday life. READ MORE

  3. 3. Local Effects On Icing Forecasts for Wind Power In Cold Climate

    Author : Erik Janzon; Anna Rutgersson; Metodija Shapkalijevski; Heiner Körnich; Johan Arnqvist; Alfredo Peña; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Abstract : Understanding the risk of atmospheric icing on wind turbines is crucial for the operation of wind farms in cold climate regions. Processes leading to atmospheric icing in the planetary boundary layer are subject to interactions with the land surface--the details of which are largely unknown in current numerical weather prediction models and must be parameterized. 4. 4. Head Injuries in Car-to-Pedestrian Accidents - Investigation of Head Impact Dynamics, Injury Mechanisms and Countermeasures

    Author : Jianfeng Yao; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; accident analysis; head injury; head protection; mathematical simulation; accident reconstruction; injury mechanism; Pedestrian accident;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to investigate head impact dynamics and to establish risk functions for head injuries by mathematical reconstructions of real-world car-to-pedestrian accidents. Furthermore, an attempt was made to develop an approach for the design and evaluation of head-protective devices. READ MORE

  5. 5. Finite Element Modeling of the Human Head

    Author : Svein Kleiven; KTH; []
    Keywords : Finite element method FEM ; Human head; brain; head injury; epidemiology; statistics; simulations.;

    Abstract : The main objectives of the present thesis were to define the dimension of head injuries in Sweden over a longer period and to present a Finite Element (FE) model of the human head which can be used for preventive strategies in the future. The annual incidence of head injuries in Sweden between 1987 and 2000 was defined at over 22 000, cases most of which were mild head injuries. READ MORE
