  1. 1. Modelling and inference of relative collision safety in cars

    Author : Anna Vadeby; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Collision; Mathematical model; Head on collision; Injury; Risk; Car; 91 Road: Vehicle design and construction; 91 Road: Vehicle design and construction; 85 Road: Personal injuries; 85 Road: Personal injuries;

    Abstract : We propose a new mathematical model for relative collision safety in cars. Our present research is restricted to head-on crashes between two cars and we try to determine how much of the injury risk in a crash that depends on car model. The relative risks include the driver populations of the different car models. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Method to Identify Future Potential of Vehicle Safety Technology

    Author : Johan Strandroth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; future crashes; collision avoidance; evaluation; autonomous braking; Delta-v; active safety; vehicle safety technology; CPR;

    Abstract : In the design of a safe road transport system there is a need to better understand the safety challenges lying ahead. One way of doing that is to evaluate safety technology with retrospective analysis of real world crashes. However, by using retrospective data there is the risk of adapting safety innovations to scenarios irrelevant in the future. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Safety Potential and Effectiveness of Lane Departure Warning Systems in Passenger Cars

    Author : Simon Sternlund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lane support; LDW; Injury; Effectiveness; Lane departure; Safety; Lane keeping;

    Abstract : In the road transport system, crashes due to lane departure account for a large proportion of the most severe crashes that passenger car occupants are exposed to. While Electronic Stability Control (ESC) effectively prevents lane departure due to loss of control, lane departure due to unintentional drifting has not been addressed to the same extent. READ MORE

READ MORE

  5. 5. Identifying the Potential of Combined Road Safety Interventions - A Method to Evaluate Future Effects of Integrated Road and Vehicle Safety Technologies

    Author : Johan Strandroth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : Health loss in the road transport system is one of the leading global public health problems with approximately 1.3 million people killed annually. In order to have a systematical approach to improved road safety, it has become common practice to form road safety management policies that include target setting and evaluation. READ MORE
