  1. 21. Chemical substitution with a life cycle perspective: The case of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in durable water repellents

    Author : Hanna Holmquist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LCIA; CAA; LCA; PFAS; DWR;

    Abstract : The aim of the research presented in this thesis was to support the process of substitution of side-chain fluorinated polymers in durable water repellents (DWRs), that give rise to emissions of hazardous per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). The focus was on: i) the provision of improved decision support regarding the environmental and human health performance of alternatives, and ii) public readiness for substitution and what messages can motivate consumers to voluntary substitution. 2. 22. Aerosol Particle Sources Affecting the Swedish Air Quality at Urban and Rural Level

    Author : Adam Kristensson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; wood combustion; traffic; long distance transport; nucleation; urban; background; PM2.5; PM10; source contribution; PIXE; Physics; Environmental technology; Fysik; pollution control; emissions; Aerosol particle; sources; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; size distribution; Fysicumarkivet A 2005:Kristensson;

    Abstract : During the last decades anthropogenic aerosol particles have attracted much attention due to their adverse health effects and their influence of climate change, and in Sweden, there are mainly three aerosol sources that affect the air quality; domestic wood combustion, traffic, and long distance transport, which includes new particle formation. This work concerns the characterization of these sources and an estimate of how much they contribute to the aerosol particle number (ToN) and mass concentrations (PM) in Swedish cities and at background locations. 3. 23. Born in fire, borne by air : Source attribution and physicochemical characterization of ship and ambient aerosols in the Baltic region

    Author : Stina Ausmeel; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; anthropogenic air pollution; aerosol; black carbon; plumes; ship emissions; absorption; source apportionment; climate; Fysicumarkivet A:2020:Ausmeel;

    Abstract : Aerosol emissions from anthropogenic activities cause detrimental health effects and affect the climate system. Combustion is a large source of airborne fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and the uncertainties of the climate role of these emissions are still large. READ MORE

  4. 24. Designing an Information System for Open Innovation – Bridging the Gap between Individual and Organisational Creativity

    Author : Mikko Ahonen; Pertti Järvinen; Ola Henfridsson; University of Tampere; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; information system; open innovation; creativity; inventing; human resource development; learning;

    Abstract : History shows that those companies that continue to invest in their innovative capabilities during tough economic times are often those that prosper when growth returns. Recently, information systems (IS) have been harnessed to support innovation. Even with IS support, innovation campaigns and suggestion management systems often end up in failure. READ MORE

  5. 25. Intimate partner violence: Beliefs and psychological predictors of the propensity to intervene

    Author : Helen Alfredsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Public perceptions; intimate partner violence; propensity to intervene;

    Abstract : Intimate partner violence (IPV) is widely recognized as a public health issue. While most people agree that IPV is unacceptable, many are reluctant to intervene personally in cases of IPV. READ MORE
