  1. 1. Modern inhalation agents and effects of anaesthesia equipment during low-flow anaesthesia

    Author : Anders Johansson; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anestesiologi; intensive care; intensivvård; Anaesthesiology; humidity and temperature; heat and moisture exchanger; isoflurane; desflurane; sevoflurane; anaesthetics volatile; carbon dioxide absorber; Low-flow; re-breathing circle circuit;

    Abstract : Volatile agents are economically and ecologically acceptable only when administered via low-flow systems. However, sevoflurane degrades during low-flow anaesthesia to compound A, and a high carbon dioxide absorber temperature increases this degradation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Influence of thermal mass on the heating and cooling demands of a building unit

    Author : Fredrik Ståhl; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal mass; environmental impact; thermal comfort; heat storage; life cycle; building energy use; earth tube heat exchanger; comfort interval; heavy or light buildings; building structure;

    Abstract : The purpose of this work is to find to what extent the thermal properties of the building materials, the allowed indoor temperature swing, determined by the comfort interval, and, to some extent, the ventilation strategy can affect the heating and cooling demand of a building. It is well known that a thermally heavy building, that is a building with a high heat capacity, often demands less energy for heating and cooling and have a more stabile indoor temperature due to heat storage in the building structure. 3. 3. Gas exchange with a reflecting system for inhalational anaesthesia

    Author : Louise Walther Sturesson; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anesthetic conserving device; inhalational anaesthesia; carbon dioxide; Gas exchange;

    Abstract : In order to reduce comsumption of inhalational anaesthetsics during high flow anaesthesia a system open in regard to oxygen, nitogen and nitrous oxide, but closed to inhalational anaesthetics, was developed. This was achieved by a reflecting filter for inhalational anaesthetics made of active carbon. READ MORE

  4. 4. Thermally Conductive High-Density Polyethylene Composites for Ground Heat Exchangers

    Author : Adib Kalantar Mehrjerdi; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-density polyethylene; talc; thermal conductivity; thermal diffusivity; thermal stability; melt rheology; oxidation induction time; α relaxation; strain hardening;

    Abstract : Today, the energy used for the heating and cooling of offices, shopping centres, schools, residential areas, andother buildings is as large as 50% of the total energy consumption in the world. The climate change, globalwarming, and environmental issues have forced high requirements for energy efficiency and clean energyproduction in buildings. READ MORE

  5. 5. Thermal energy use in greenhouses : the influence of climatic conditions and dehumidification

    Author : Katarzyna Maslak; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In the North European greenhouses, energy use for climatization accounts for a significant share of the operational costs. Air temperature and humidity are important factors whose control is crucial for assuring high productivity and limited use of energy. READ MORE
