11. Controlling protein homeostasis through regulation of Heat shock factor 1
Abstract : In order to thrive in a changing environment all organisms need to ensure protein homeostasis (proteostasis). Proteostasis is ensured by the proteostasis system that monitors the folding status of the proteome and regulates cell physiology and gene expression to counteract any perturbations. READ MORE

12. Limiting conditions for a sustained flame over condensed fuels : Analysis by experiments and stagnant layer theory
Abstract : Ignition and extinction characteristics of a material determine whether a fire will be initiated and grow. In fire safety engineering, where modellers deal with a multitude of materials, simplified thresholds are commonly used to determine when ignition and extinction occur. READ MORE

13. Knock in Gasoline Engines - the Effects of Mixture Composition on Knock Onset and Heat Transfer
Abstract : This thesis is based on experimental investigations into engine knock in, (a) a multi-cylinder turbocharged engine, and (b) a single-cylinder engine featuring optical access. The optical access facilitated the measurement of temperature in the end-gas using coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS). READ MORE

14. Study of heat release rates of mining vehicles in underground hard rock mines
Abstract : A unique study on fire safety in hard rock underground mines with focus on heat release rates of mining vehicles is presented. A literature inventory was conducted with respect to fires in underground hard rock mines, which revealed that the most common fire cause in underground mines was flammable liquid sprayed onto hot surface and the most common fire object was a vehicle. 15. New process integration methods for heat-saving retrofit projects in industrial systems
Abstract : New graphical methods for HEN retrofit (further development of existing tools), release of usable excess heat and placement of supply tanks in HWWS systems have been developed. In addition, further development of the matrix method for HEN retrofit has been made. READ MORE
