  1. 1. Exploring small heat shock protein chaperones by crosslinking mass spectrometry

    University dissertation from Department of Chemistry, Lund University

    Author : Wietske Lambert; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2012]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cross-linking; mass spectrometry; protein-protein interactions; Hsp21; BS3; DTSSP; MALDI-TOF TOF; client protein; substrate; aggregation; unfolded protein; chaperone; Small heat shock protein; crosslinking;

    Abstract : Together with other molecular chaperones, small heat shock proteins are key components of the protein quality control system, which is comprised of several hundred proteins and acts to maintain proteome homeostasis in the cell. Small heat shock proteins bind unfolding proteins at an early stage, to prevent these from further unfolding and aggregating. READ MORE

  2. 2. Pathophysiology of blood-brain barrier, brain edema and cell injury following hyperthermia : New role of heat shock protein, nitric oxide and carbon monoxide : an experimental study in rat using light and electron microscopy

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Hari Shanker Sharma; Uppsala universitet.; [1999]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; blood-brain barrier; heat stress; hyperthermia; brain edema; serotonin; nitric oxide; carbon monoxide; heat shock protein; glial fibrillary acidic protein; myelin basic protein; opioids; histamine; catecholamines; naloxone; indomethacin; p-CPA; electron microscopy; immunocytochemistry; Cellbiologi; MEDICINE Morphology; cell biology; pathology Cell biology; MEDICIN Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi Cellbiologi; Human Anatomy; anatomi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the molecular mechanisms of hyperthermia induced brain damage in rats. The results clearly establish that hyperthermia caused by 4 h heat stress at 38° C is associated with a breakdown of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability which seems to be instrumental in causing brain edema and cell injury. 3. 3. Heat shock proteins as vaccine adjuvants

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Wenner-Grens institut för experimentell biologi

    Author : Khaleda Rahman Qazi; Stockholms universitet.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heat shock protein; vaccine; adjuvant; BCG; MEDICINE Microbiology; immunology; infectious diseases Immunology; MEDICIN Mikrobiologi; immunologi; infektionssjukdomar Immunologi;

    Abstract : New efficient vaccines against infectious diseases are in demand. Some important factors impeding the vaccine development are the poor immunogenicity and the MHC restriction of the immune responses to a number of antigens. READ MORE

  4. 4. Controlling protein homeostasis through regulation of Heat shock factor 1

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University

    Author : Anna E. Masser; Stockholms universitet.; [2019]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stress; protein homeostasis; molecular chaperones; heat shock response; Hsf1; Hsp70; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : In order to thrive in a changing environment all organisms need to ensure protein homeostasis (proteostasis). Proteostasis is ensured by the proteostasis system that monitors the folding status of the proteome and regulates cell physiology and gene expression to counteract any perturbations. READ MORE

  5. 5. Interactions Between Small Heat Shock Proteins and Substrate Proteins Mass Spectrometric Detection of Crosslinked Peptides to Map Protein-Protein Interactions

    University dissertation from Department of Biochemistry, Lund University

    Author : Emma Åhrman; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein-protein interactions; Small heat shock proteins; Mass spectrometric peptide mapping; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Abstract : The small heat shock proteins (sHsps) are a widespread class of molecular chaperones existing in all organisms. During heat stress the sHsps protect other proteins from unfolding and aggregation. In plants the sHsps play an especially prominent part of the stress response. READ MORE
