  1. 16. Mathematical and physical modelling of fluid flow and heat transfer in steel ladles during holding and teeming

    Author : Yuhua Pan; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : Fluid flow and heat transfer in industrial steel ladles during holding and teeming periods were simulated by using three mathematical numerical models and a physical hot-water model. Firstly, based on a finite-difference method, a one-dimensional heat conduction numerical model was established for predicting the heat loss fluxes through ladle wall, bottom and top slag layer. 2. 17. Modelling and Simulation of Thermal Radiation in Biomass Combustion

    Author : Thomas Nilsson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat load; gas turbine; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; porous media; fixed bed; biomass; wood; FG-DVC; combustion; DOM; P1-approximation; Mie theory; RDG-PFA; EWBM; thermal radiation; soot;

    Abstract : This thesis presents numerical investigations and simulations of fixed bed combustion of wood, models for predicting thermal radiative properties of particles and gases related to the combustion of wood, and a review of heat load calculations in gas turbines. All subjects have a common factor in thermal radiation. READ MORE

  3. 18. Optical Diagnostics for Engine Efficiency in Gasoline Compression Ignition

    Author : Miao Zhang; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PPC; Optical engine; Engine Eciency; Multiple-injection strategies; Thermodynamic analysis;

    Abstract : The internal combustion engine has played a significant role in a vast number of applications from small cars to giant tankers, setting people free from geographical barriers and heavy labor. However, it has also generated many tons of harmful emissions and CO2that damage to humans and the environment. READ MORE

  4. 19. On Fuel Coolant Interactions and Debris Coolability in Light Water Reactors

    Author : Sachin Thakre; Weimin Ma; Florian Fichot; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; severe accident; fuel-coolant interactions; melt jet fragmentation; steam explosion; debris bed coolability; uncertainty analysis; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract : During the case of a hypothetical severe accident in a light water reactor, core damage may occur and molten fuel may interact with water resulting in explosive interactions. A Fuel-Coolant Interactions (FCI) consists of many complex phenomena whose characteristics determine the energetics of the interactions. READ MORE

  5. 20. Numerical Modelling of Subcooled Nucleate Boiling for Thermal Management Solutions Using OpenFOAM

    Author : Achref Rabhi; Rebei Bel Fdhila; Konstantinos Kyprianidis; Ioanna Aslanidou; Christophe Duwig; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Keywords : Computational Fluid Dynamics; Boiling Flows; Two-phase cooling; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Two-phase cooling solutions employing subcooled nucleate boiling flows e.g. thermosyphons, have gained a special interest during the last few decades. This interest stems from their enhanced ability to remove extremely high heat fluxes, while keeping a uniform surface temperature. READ MORE
