  1. 1. Mini-Jet Production in Proton-Antiproton Interactions and Particle Production in Heavy-Ion Collisions

    Author : Haiqiao Wang; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proton antiproton interaction; Quark-gluon plasma; dynamical fluctuation; intermittency; limiting fragmentation; intranuclear cascading; target fragmentation; heavy-ion collision; image processing; mini-jet; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Wang;

    Abstract : The thesis is based on the data analysis and detector development of the EMU01/CERN, E863/BNL and UA1/CERN experiments. Particle fluctuations are studied with the scaled factorial moments in the fragmentation region of oxygen-induced emulsion interactions from 3.7 to 200 A GeV. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of Detector Systems for Internal and Fixed Target Heavy Ion Physics Experiments

    Author : Pavel Golubev; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Multi-detector system; VLSI electronics; ultra-thin detectors; heavy ion reactions; nuclear intensity interferometry; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; ultra-high vacuum compatibility; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Golubev;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with intermediate energy heavy ion reactions with the particular aim to study the nuclear matter equation of state which defines the relation between statistical parameters of a fermionic system. The development of equipment for two experiments, CA47 at The Svedberg Laboratory in Uppsala, Sweden and R16 at Kernfysisch Versneller Instituut (KVI), Groningen, The Netherlands, are described. 3. 3. Electron - Ion Recombination Studies of Astrophysically Relevant Ions : Storage Ring and Electron Beam Ion Trap Based Measurements

    Author : Istvan Orban; Reinhold Schuch; Yaming Zou; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atomic processes; electron-ion recombination; plasma; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis contains experimental work that was performed at two state-of-the art devices for electron-ion collision physics, at a heavy-ion storage ring and at an Electron Beam Ion Trap. As a result, absolute recombination rate coefficients for H-like Si, He-like Si, Be-like Si, and Na-like Si, as well as Be-like Ne, Na-like S and Na-like Ar are reported over a wide energy range from μeV to keV. 4. 4. Mechanisms of Anion Reactions from the lab to ionospheres

    Author : Fredrik Lindén; Wolf D. Geppert; Henrik Cederquist; Henning Zettergren; Einar Uggerud; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ab initio; anion; complex molecules; cross section; electron transfer; heavy ions; ionosphere; nitriles; quantum chemistry; spectroscopy; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : A multitude of heavy neutral and ionic molecules have been discovered by the Cassini Plasma Spectrometer in the ionosphere of Saturn's largest moon Titan. However, only three cyano anions were explicitly identified there, namely CN-, C3N- and C5N-. READ MORE

  5. 5. Interaction of atomic ions with electrons : Recombination rate coefficients for C1+, F5+, Ne5+, S14+,S15+

    Author : Sultan Mahmood; Reinhold Schuch; Christoph Biedermann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis concentrates on electron-ion interaction studies, in particular focusing on dielectronic recombination (DR) of highly charged ions relevant to astrophysics and plasma physics. The measurements were performed at the Stockholm Refrigerated Electron Beam Ion Trap (R-EBIT) and at the CRYRING heavy-ion storage ring. READ MORE
