  1. 1. The shear plate dowel joint : Research on a novel connection for heavy timber structures

    Author : Gustaf Larsson; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; timber connection; rubber foil; resilient bond line; single dowel; heavy timber structures;

    Abstract : An increased use of wood can reduce the environmental footprint of the building sector. In order to improve the competitiveness of heavy timber structures, the thesis presents a novel type of timber connection with a high degree of prefabrication. READ MORE

  2. 2. Shear walls for multi-storey timber buildings

    Author : Johan Vessby; Hilmer Riberholt; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-storey structures; timber engineering; wind stabilization; shear walls; cross-laminated timber wall panels; fasteners; connections; sheathing; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Wind loads acting on wooden building structures need to be dealt with adequately in order to ensure that neither the serviceability limit state nor the ultimate limit state is exceeded. For the structural designer of tall buildings, avoiding the possibly serious consequences of heavy wind loading while taking account at the same time of the effects of gravitation can be a real challenge. 3. 3. The hygrothermal inertia of massive timber connstructions

    Author : Stéphane Hameury; Ove Söderström; Carsten Rode; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 1H MRI; Building simulation environment; Heat buffering capacity; Heavy timber construction; Indoor climate; In-situ measurement; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Building manufacturing engineering; Byggproduktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this Doctoral dissertation concerns the ability of heavy timber structures to passively reduce the fluctuations of the indoor temperature and of the indoor relative humidity, through the dynamic process of heat and moisture storage in wood. We make the hypothesis that the potential offered by the hygrothermal inertia of heavy timber structures is significant, and that it could provide a passive way of regulating the indoor climate. 4. 4. High capacity timber joints : Proposal of the shear plate dowel joint

    Author : Gustaf Larsson; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : An increased use of wood can reduce the environmental footprint of the building sector by being a renewable and ecological material. In order to improve the competitiveness of heavy timber structures, this thesis presents a novel type of timber connection with a high degree of prefabrication, which utilizes a resilient bond line.
