1. Interactions between natural enemies and the dioecious herb Silene dioica
Abstract : About 6% of all angiosperms are dioecious. This separation of sexual function to male and female individuals, and the fundamentally different patterns of reproductive resource allocation that follows that separation, are thought to have important ecological and evolutionary consequences for plant enemy interactions. 2. Recruitment and understorey herb dynamics in deciduous and mixed coniferous forest
Abstract : The distribution and abundance of plant species is determined by the ability to disperse, recruit and persist in a suitable habitat. Plant-animal interactions influence recruitment by reducing seeds and seedlings through predation and herbivory. READ MORE

3. Genetic variation and population differentiation in the forest herb Lathyrus vernus (Fabaceae)
Abstract : In the present thesis, I investigated patterns of genetic variation in the forest herb Lathyrus vernus (Fabaceae), using plant material from different-sized populations representing three geographically separated regions: central Europe, southern and central Sweden. My studies included presumably neutral or weakly selected characters (allozymes and leaflet shape) as well as characters that should be under strong directional selection (e. READ MORE

4. Ecological and Evolutionary Consequences of Herbivory in the Perennial Herb Lythrum salicaria
Abstract : In this thesis, I combined field, common-garden and greenhouse experiments to examine the ecological and evolutionary consequences of plant-herbivore interactions in the perennial herb Lythrum salicaria. More specifically I examined (1) whether resistance and tolerance to damage from herbivores vary with latitude and are positively related to the intensity of herbivory in natural populations, (2) whether effects of herbivory on plant fitness vary with latitude, (3) whether populations are locally adapted and whether herbivory influences the relative fitness of populations, and (4) whether the intensity and effects of insect herbivory on reproductive output vary locally along a disturbance gradient and are associated with differences in plant resistance. 5. Clonal structure and reproductive biology in the gynodioecious herb Glechoma hederacea L. Lamiaceae
Abstract : Clonal structure and reproductive biology in the gynodioecious herb Glechoma hederacea L. Lamiaceae The frequencies of females, hermaphrodites and partially male-sterile (PMS) genets of Glechoma hederacea were estimated in natural populations in S Sweden. The frequency of females and PMS genets in natural populations varied from 0 to 100%. READ MORE
