  1. 11. Reaction Between Grignard reagents and Heterocyclic N-oxides : Synthesis of Substituted Pyridines, Piperidines and Piperazines

    Author : Hans Andersson; Fredrik Almqvist; Hans Adolfsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Grignard reagents; pyridine N-oxide; pyrazine N-oxide; dienal-oxime; pyridine; ortho- metalation; piperidine; piperazine; asymmetric; Organic synthesis; Organisk syntes; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development of new synthetic methodologies for preparation of bioactive interesting compounds, e.g. substituted pyridines, piperidines or piparazines. Thesecompounds are synthesized from commercially available, cheap and easily prepared reagents, videlicet the reaction between Grignard reagents and heterocyclic N-oxides. READ MORE

  2. 12. Aromatic Allylation via Diazotization; Application in synthesis of heterocyclic compounds

    Author : Fredrik Ek; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bengamide analogue.; parallel synthesis; trimethylsilyl azide; cycloaddition; imidazole; fused tetrazole derivatives; iodocyclization; benzazepine; tert-butyl nitrite; allylic bromide; aromatic allylation; diazotization; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : A new method for allylation of aromatic systems has been developed. A number of arylamines were converted via diazotization to the corresponding allylaromatic compounds using tert-butyl nitrite and an excess of allylic bromides with complete regioselectivity. Electron-withdrawing groups, in the aromatic moiety, were necessary to obtain good yields. READ MORE

  3. 13. Hit Identification and Hit Expansion in Antituberculosis Drug Discovery : Design and Synthesis of Glutamine Synthetase and 1-Deoxy-D-Xylulose-5-Phosphate Reductoisomerase Inhibitors

    Author : Anneli Nordqvist; Anders Karlén; Mats Larhed; Anders Hallberg; Anna Linusson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tuberculosis; Glutamine synthetase; Imidazo[1; 2-a]pyridine analogues; Focused hierarchical design of experiments; DXR; Fosmidomycin analogues; 1-Deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate reductoisomerase; Cinnamaldehydes; Oxidative Heck reaction; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Läkemedelskemi; Medicinal Chemistry; Läkemedelskemi;

    Abstract : Since the discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) as the bacterial agent causing tuberculosis, the permanent eradication of this disease has proven challenging. Although a number of drugs exist for the treatment of tuberculosis, 1.7 million people still die every year from this infection. READ MORE

  4. 14. Capillary electroseparations with mass spectrometric detection Nanoparticle-based continuous full filling and applications for complex sample matrices

    Author : Peter Viberg; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; phthalates; continuous full filling; heterocyclic aromatic amines; pseudostationary phase; capillary electrophoresis; electrokinetic chromatography; capillary electrochromatography; nanoelectrospray; mass spectrometry;

    Abstract : One of the major challenges in analytical chemistry is to find techniques and methods for determinations of low abundance compounds in complex sample matrices. This thesis describes the development of new miniaturised analytical techniques comprising capillary electroseparation combined with mass spectrometric detection. READ MORE

  5. 15. Transition metal-catalyzed reduction of carbonyl compounds : Fe, Ru and Rh complexes as powerful hydride mediators

    Author : Elina Buitrago; Hans Adolfsson; Robert Morris; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asymmetric catalysis; amino acid; N-heterocyclic carbene; iron; ruthenium; rhodium; mechanistic investigation; kinetic study; asymmetric transfer hydrogenation; hydrosilylation; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : A detailed mechanistic investigation of the previously reported ruthenium pseudo-dipeptide-catalyzed asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) of aromatic ketones was performed. It was found that the addition of alkali metals has a large influence on both the reaction rate and the selectivity, and that the rate of the reaction was substantially increased when THF was used as a co-solvent.
