1. Phenomenology of Higgs Bosons Beyond the Standard Model
Abstract : After a long history of searches, a Higgs boson H was discovered by the ATLAS and the CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in 2012. Its properties fit well the ones predicted by the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. However, the SM can not explain other established properties of Nature, such as the existence of Dark Matter. READ MORE

2. Looking for the Charged Higgs Boson : Simulation Studies for the ATLAS Experiment
Abstract : The discovery of a charged Higgs boson (H+) would be an unambiguous sign of physics beyond the Standard Model. This thesis describes preparations for the H+ search with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The H+ discovery potential is evaluated, and tools for H+ searches are developed and refined. READ MORE

3. Quark Distributions and Charged Higgs Boson Production : Studies of Proton Structure and New Physics
Abstract : The Standard Model describes all elementary particles known today, but at larger energies it will have to be complemented with new particles and interactions. To be able to distinguish new physics at proton colliders such as LHC at CERN, it is essential to have an appropriate description of the colliding protons and their interactions. READ MORE

4. Searches for Higgs bosons with hadronically decaying τ-leptons : Using Grid and Cloud computing techniques
Abstract : This thesis describes a measurement of the Standard Model Higgs boson coupling to fermions in decays to two τ-leptons, a search for charged Higgs bosons in decays to a τ-lepton and a neutrino, as well as the reconstruction, identification and triggering of hadronically decaying τ-leptons. The data considered are collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. READ MORE

5. Exploration of extended Higgs sectors, development of a displaced track trigger, and improvements in GRID middleware
Abstract : Two possible solutions to the Standard Model (SM) fine-tuning problem are presented in this thesis, MSSM and Compositeness. The Higgs sector of the MSSM can be tested by searching for charged Higgs bosons. Two direct searches for charged Higgs bosons decaying into a top- and bottom-quark are performed using 13.2 and 36.
