  2. 2. Spatial and temporal metrology of intense attosecond pulses

    Author : Helene Coudert-Alteirac; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : Ultrafast optics; High-order harmonic generation; Filamentation; Attosecond; Femtosecond; Extreme ultraviolet; Wavefront measurement; Optical metrology; XUV optics; interferometry; Pump-probe; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Coudert-Alteirac;

    Abstract : Attosecond pulses are short enough to capture the electronic dynamics in atoms and molecules. The work presented in this thesis deals with the generation and optimization of attosecond extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) pulses. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ultrafast opto-optical control of extreme ultraviolet light pulses

    Author : Samuel Bengtsson; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; extreme ultraviolet; controlled emission; Free induction; time-dependent spectroscopy; noble; High order harmonic generation; phase-control; Fysicumarkivet A:2017:Bengtsson;

    Abstract : Extreme ultraviolet (XUV) light is a valuable frequency range for ultrafast optics experiments. The short wavelength is a requirement for ultrashort pulses, which are widely used to characterize fast dynamics. Additionally, the high photon energy enables quantum control of high frequency transitions in atoms. READ MORE

  4. 4. A sub-5 fs 100 TW optical parametric synthesizer

    Author : Peter Fischer; Laszlo Veisz; Ove Axner; Cord L. Arnold; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optical parametric amplification OPA ; optical parametric synthesizer OPS optimization; energy stability; carrier envelop phase stability; temporal intensity contrast; saturation; fewcycle; tera watt; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : State-of-the-art ultrashort light sources in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions provide direct access to the femtosecond realm, thereby enabling understanding and control of electronic processes within matter. On the other hand, ultra-intense light pulses lead to the emergence of relativistic electron motion and many related phenomena, such as electron & ion acceleration and high-order harmonic generation in plasmas. Abstract : When a low-frequency laser pulse is focused to a high intensity in a gas, the electric field of the laser may become comparable to, or even exceed, the electric field between the electrons and the nucleus in the atom. Under such conditions, through a process known as high-order harmonic generation, bursts of extreme ultraviolet radiation may be emitted, with durations in the attosecond domain (1 as = 10^{-18} s), which is the time-scale of electronic processes.
