  1. 1. High-Pressure Microfluidics

    Author : Sam Ogden; Klas Hjort; Greger Thornell; Wouter van der Wijngaart; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : phase change; actuator; valve; pump; supercritical fluid; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : In this thesis, some fundamentals and possible applications of high-pressure microfluidics have been explored. Furthermore, handling fluids at high pressures has been addressed, specifically by creating and characterizing strong microvalves and pumps.A variety of microstructuring techniques was used to realize these microfluidic devices, e.g. READ MORE

  2. 2. High pressure vulcanization : crosslinking of diene rubbers without vulcanization agents

    Author : Martin Bellander; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : High pressure vulcanization (HPV) is defined in this thesisas crosslinking of rubber materialsat elevated pressure andtemperature, without the use of any vulcanization agents. Thisis atotally new vulcanization technique, not used in theindustry today. READ MORE

  3. 3. Miniaturized fluid system for high-pressure analytics

    Author : Simon Södergren; Klas Hjort; Sami Franssila; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-pressure; Microfluidics; Thermal regulation; Fluid mechanics; In-situ sensors; High-pressure analytics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : High-pressure chemistry can be used to determine the contents of blood or water samples and to discover new chemistries. However, working with chemistry at pressures of many tens, or even hundreds, of bars often requires expensive and stationary equipment, such as autoclaves or chromatographic systems like high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). 4. 4. Bonding veneers using only heat and pressure : focus on bending and shear strength

    Author : Carmen Cristescu; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; self-bonding; auto-adhesion; LVL; beech; Fagus Sylvatica; high-temperature; pressure; Wood Technology; Träteknik;

    Abstract : A compact laminated board can be obtained by pressing layers of veneers with no other material or substance placed between them. The process does not require the use of steam pretreatment, surface activation methods, a gastight press, friction or adhesives. It strictly involves the heat and the pressure induced by the press in the veneers. READ MORE

  5. 5. Experimental Study of some Potassium and Sodium Bearing Aluminosilicates at High Temperatures and High Pressures

    Author : Faramarz Tutti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Phlogopite; Orthoclase; Jadeite; Albite; Calcium ferrite; Hollandite; Dehydroxylation; High temperature; High pressure; Lower mantle; Geochemistry; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents the results of a high-temperature and high-pressure experimental study of some abundant aluminositicates, which are the main repositories for the two geochemically important elements, sodium and potassium, in the Earth's crust. Phase transitions of end member alkali feldspars and jadeite clinopyroxene are studied at high and ultrahigh pressures corresponding to the conditions between the transition zone and the deep Earth's lower mantle.
