  1. 1. High-Pressure Microfluidics

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Sam Ogden; Uppsala universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; phase change; actuator; valve; pump; supercritical fluid; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : In this thesis, some fundamentals and possible applications of high-pressure microfluidics have been explored. Furthermore, handling fluids at high pressures has been addressed, specifically by creating and characterizing strong microvalves and pumps.A variety of microstructuring techniques was used to realize these microfluidic devices, e.g. READ MORE

  2. 2. High pressure vulcanization crosslinking of diene rubbers without vulcanization agents

    University dissertation from Institutionen för polymerteknologi

    Author : Martin Bellander; KTH.; [1998]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : High pressure vulcanization (HPV) is defined in this thesisas crosslinking of rubber materialsat elevated pressure andtemperature, without the use of any vulcanization agents. Thisis atotally new vulcanization technique, not used in theindustry today. READ MORE

    Abstract : At the present stage, human society is developing at an unprecedented speed, facing an emergence of highly pressing challenges, e.g., information explosion, energy production problems, environmental pollution, climate problems. Functional materials with tailored properties are considered as holding a key to solving these problems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Bonding veneers using only heat and pressure focus on bending and shear strength

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Carmen Cristescu; Luleå tekniska universitet.; [2008]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; self-bonding; auto-adhesion; LVL; beech; Fagus Sylvatica; high-temperature; pressure; Forestry; agricultural sciences and landscape planning - Wood fibre and forest products; Skogs- och jordbruksvetenskap samt landskapsplanering - Träfiber- och virkeslära; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Abstract : A compact laminated board can be obtained by pressing layers of veneers with no other material or substance placed between them. The process does not require the use of steam pretreatment, surface activation methods, a gastight press, friction or adhesives. It strictly involves the heat and the pressure induced by the press in the veneers. READ MORE

    Abstract : This dissertation presents the results of a high-temperature and high-pressure experimental study of some abundant aluminositicates, which are the main repositories for the two geochemically important elements, sodium and potassium, in the Earth's crust. Phase transitions of end member alkali feldspars and jadeite clinopyroxene are studied at high and ultrahigh pressures corresponding to the conditions between the transition zone and the deep Earth's lower mantle.
